After the success of Sir Bobby's testimonial match, my 4 year old lad will today experience his first ever league match at Oakwell. That's it now. His path has been chosen.
Good to hear. I was too young to remember my first game. And my dad doesn't remember who we played, but we worked out it must have been early in the 92/93 season because my mum was pregnant with my brother, which made me 3 years old. I vaguely remember watching the odd game from the old Ponte end. My dad used to sit me on a box on the wall. The first games I can vaguely remember the opposition were a home game against Millwall, as we sat in the West Stand for the one and only time, as the Ponte was being redeveloped. I also remember a cup game against Aston Villa where we sat in the East Upper. Vaguely remember the 95/96 season as we sat in the East Stand all that season. Hope he enjoys the game. I went to 5 matches before I even saw us score. It took me a while to work out that the team in red were allowed to score. My little one has been going irregularly since she was 2. As long as there's a my little pony to play with and its not too noisy she's happy.
It's all his Grandad's fault Bossman. Dreamboy, I'm taking him to Harrogate Town on Bank Holiday Monday as we have no match.
I now know why every Saturday tea time my old man would say to my mum "I'm never taking him again!" ... He always did though!
