Couldn't be more impressed. His calm assured manner in his radio interviews exude confidence and are a genuinely enjoyable listen. Unlike many, I never had a real problem with what Simon Davey had to say, but I found it difficult to warm to the bloke. Mark Robins, on the other hand, is instantly likeable and appears to have a definite plan on what he wants to achieve. He's open and honest where as Davey was more reserved and defensive and it's a really refreshing approach. These things aren't supposed to matter, it's results that count, but it's far easier to forgive your team a bad result when you have an affinity with the manager. Maybe he'll be my bird. We'll never know, but I don't think we would have won the Derby game under Davey. Despite the players claiming they were right behind the manager, they rarely produced such spirited performances for him. We got a fair few wins under Davey, but seldom did that come from us out fighting the opposition like we did last night. There's no way it would have been the same team either. Jacob Butterfield put in a sterling performance last night and was pivotal to the victory, but he probably wouldn't have even made the bench under Davey. Youth got a chance under Davey when there were absolutely no other options, but were then ignored when senior players returned from injury/suspension. Last night Mark Robins selected Butterfield ahead of Anderson and was repaid with an excellent performance. We even got some young players on the bench ahead of misfiring first teamers. That just didn't happen under Davey. It's very early days and I'm already being won over. We just need a home victory now. Of course, my first impression could be for **** and we may lose the next ten on the bounce, but with Mark Robins in charge I don't think that's going to happen.
Not of the prime importance I suppose But if the manager helps to rebuild a connection between supporters and the club then hurrah from me.
Heslop on the bench an'all - excellent.
So how did the team set up last night ?

Hit the nail on the head there. Said exactly the same myself. He has the bottle to drop misfiring first teamers which was another downfall of Davey.
RE: Not of the prime importance I suppose First half it was 4-4-2/4-5-1. Hume would get up to join Gray when we were in attack, but slot back to either wide left or wide right when we didn't have the ball, with Hammill alternating wings. Second half it was a straight 4-5-1, which worked a lot better. Hallfredsson no longer had to cover down the left and produced some surging runs from midfield straight down the throat of the Derby centre backs. He scared them daft. Best away performance I've seen for a long, long time.
RE: Frankly I thought the standard reaction is the chuckle, followed by head in hands, followed by 'why?'
Whereas I thought the standard reaction is the wince, followed by head in hands, followed by 'oh fvck we're going down.'
PMSL Love it. Probably my second favourite BFC caricature of all time, after the Ian Banks / Gerry Taggart "fat slags" in South Riding way back when.
Lets hope JCR and one or two others have to fight to get back into the side and not walk back in because of injuries.
