Well its certainly not wrong. We haven't won a game against Leeds at Elland Road since 1981 when Owen Archdeacon and Brendan O'Connell (I think) scored the goals in another 2-1 victory but.... Is anyone else surprised by how many newspaper and TV reports flag it up as if its some remarkably bad sequence and particularly newsworthy sequence of results? If we had played them every season since then without winning it perhaps would be, but Leeds got promoted in 1991 and we didn't play them again until our season in the Premier League, when unsurprisingly, we lost there. Since then we have played three further games at Elland Road, drawing two of them and winning yesterday.... so our record is a quite respectable played 4, won 1, drawn 2, lost 1 since 1991. Hardly that newsworthy a point, is it? Surely, if they were looking to highlight our poor away record they would have been better doing a story highlighting our recent results away at Yeovil? Wouldn't a far more newsworthy point have been to highlight the fact that the 'Mighty' Leeds United have failed to register a win home or away against 'Little' Barnsley in any competition in 14 years??
Not quite true, they beat us in 2001 in an FA cup 3rd round game at Bellend Rd. Oh, and it was 1990 when Archie & Bren came off the bench to turn it around for us. That 20 mins probably saved us from relegation that year. Still, we are unbeaten in the last 5 league games against them, 3 wins & 2 draws.
