I signed up at the academy tonight.. course starts next Tues. looking forward to it, not done much exercise is years other then the odd pushbike ride.
I was on the last session I'ts a very good way to get you off your backside. Pulled a few muscles though laikin footy. Lost 9lbs and 1.5" off my waist. BP went down too. Is it on Tuesdays this time? I'm still going to go down Thursdays for a game of footy once the strains have healed.
I'm about a stone overweight, I think I'll nip up tomorrow and have look at that mate, where have I got to go to sign up?
It's Thursday's 7 till 9. Contact me on Carl@bacp.org.UK and I can add you to the list,, just need name, address, date of birth and a contact number. A course as just started and I think the next one is more or less full in regards to names but people don't always get back to us so its worth getting you name down asap so you are further up the list. Quite a few members on here have been on it now, and from the feedback and results from the last 4 courses it is really going well.
You'll both be fine, we played a bit too much football at the start of the last course and realised that it probably wasn't the best idea, as no matter how unfit someone is they often over exert or over stretch to try and get to a football! We've learnt a lot from the previous 4 courses but every group differs so we are always mindful of adapting it as best we can to suit. Here's a video we compiled from the first lot; http://www.barnsleyfc-community.com/health9.html There is a website in the making so watch this space! Any Fit Reds related questions feel free to send them my way.
Just got back from Week 1 of this, and am thoroughly cream-crackered! However, I can't praise it highly enough. Great instructors who encourage you to work at your own pace and not to try and do too much. The group is a mixture of shapes and sizes and I'm the biggest, which I knew I would be, so found it harder going than most. I was paired up with Ady quite a bit and we got each other through it, just about! Everyone seems to have bonded pretty well already, which is a massive plus. We realise we're all there to help ourselves and there was a lot of encouragement given within a group of total strangers until today. The kickabout at the end was a laugh, although I was so stiff by then I had to resort to 'nuisance up front' role (which to be fair is my usual position). Managed to score the only goal though, although it took a massive deflection! A word of praise for one guy who did a spell in goal and pulled off a double save of which Luke Steele would have been proud. They showed a video at the start (not the one linked above though) which had a lot of footage of the Oakwell game on it, and Gally seemed to pop up in quite a few of the photos. Clearly a media *****! If anyone is thinking of this, then I REALLY recommend giving it a shot. It really looks like its going to be a brilliant programme. Not looking forward to the aches and pains tomorrow though!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it Curtis! It's a cracking programme run by a great bunch of lads. I lost 2 and a bit stone since starting Fit Reds 3 back in april/may time so it certainly works. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Good to hear you enjoyed it Curtis. Remember any problems or questions feel free to get in touch. As said in the classroom it all falls into place as the course goes on.
