Still flogging this particular dead horse!
At the start of the season I did some dodgy RSS thing to try and get auto-updating fixtures on your desktop. See here http://www.barnsleyfc.org.uk/bbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=116123
It was really complicated to set up, required a minimum desktop size of 1280x1024 and, well, looked a bit **** really.
Anyway, I've found out how these widget things are programmed. So I've altered the RSS Feed widget I recommended to create a dedicated fixtures widget that should (!) work straight out of the box. We still need a resolution of 1024x768 or greater, mind.
Instructions:
1. If you don't have the Yahoo! widgets framework installed, get it here: http://widgets.yahoo.com/download/
It comes with a selection of widgets which it will cover your desktop in. Right click on and close these (or at least the ones you don't want). It also comes with a Dock at the right of the screen for managing widgets. Presuming you don't want this (unless you run zillions of widgets I can't see the point), right click on the cog icon in your tray by the clock on your taskbar. Choose "Close dock". Your desktop should now look how it did before you installed Yahoo Widgets.
2. Download the widget from here http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=b328e4e48b47037dd2db6fb9a8902bda. Open the file and voila! the fixtures should appear on your desktop. Grab the widget with a left mouse click and position where you want it.

This is better than fixtures wallpaper in that, because it reads the data from the official site, the fixtures will auto update in the event of changes (TV, postponments etc) or additions (cup draws) and will display results for fixtures already played. Also, when subsequent seasons fixtures come on to the official site, it should update itself, so you won't need a new wallpaper for every season.

Gave you a mention during BW commentary last night As a thankyou for that Cardiff defeat stat from the season before last. ;-)
I got it working last time, works really well. Is there any reason I should download this one instead?
Not really This one is a bit smaller, so if the old one fills your screen such that any cup fixtures will make it too large, try this instead. Mainly, though, it's just to avoid the difficulties some had setting it up.
I don't know the exact number I read on the website statement that it was fast increasing in numbers, so I'm just assuming 1000 really.
Is ther anyway you (or any of the barnsley world lot) would be able to find out? Would be interesting to know
Popped into the ship last night. Not sure about the new guy. Struck me as a right ignorant git. Nice beer at nice prices though so what the heck.
