Seems they are not really bothered about enforcing the 5 loan players in squad of 16 rule then! The underlying principle of the Regulation is that a majority of the fielded players (i.e. 6 out of 11) should be permanently registered with the Club. The Regulation was drafted to be a maximum of 5 loan players out of 16 (as opposed to 5 out of 11) so as to remove the risk that a manager may inadvertenly utilise a loan player as a substitute and during the match go from 5 to 6 loan players on the field. Only four loan players actually played in the match and because Showumni replaced Sahar, no more than 3 were on the field at any time. Thank you for contacting The Football League with your view. Ridiculous! Having those loan players on the bench potentially gives them an advantage as the manager has those options available to him, even if he doesn't use more than 5 on the field!
The thing that got me... Was that Stoke had to remove one of their loan players from the squad so not to break the rule.
Maybe we should play with 6 subs tonight Then we can have 5 outfield players and a goalie wont use them all so no harm done eh
Marvellous So what they are saying is that EVERY sub can be a loan player, you can have 10 out of 16 all loanees and provided that only 5 of them actually enter the field of play it is ok.
