I discovered a bit of a flaw in this e-ticketing system this morning... I originally registered on line a couple of years ago when I wasn't a season ticket holder, but this year I do have a season ticket. Unfortunately the club failed to update my status on the system, so when I logged on this morning I couldn't get tickets. Also there was no way to cancel my original registration and start again. When I tried to register again I wasn't allowed because my details already existed. I then used the search facility to add people into your network and I was there! I added myself into my own network - apparently I existed twice! However it still wouldn't let me have any tickets, so had to trail to Oakwell where someone in the office said he'd 'hid' my original registration (God knows how) allowing me to get tickets as a season ticket holder. Wasted about 2 hours in total, but eventually managed to buy the tickets I wanted. Complete farce.
Interesting. Did it say something about not having the right privileges on your account? That's what mine was saying anyway. Still is. Still can't get tickets.
Good that you got it sorted out anyway. Cheers for the info. I'll try phoning the box office tomorrow to see if they can sort mine out. If it's owt like today that's not going to be much fun.
I seem to have two accounts with different season ticket numbers attached (mine and I presume my dad's lapsted one). A couple of times I've not been entitled to buy tickets including yesterday. Anyway, I logged out, and logged back in with the same email address, and my season ticket number came up and I was entitled to purchase tickets. A bit weired.
I had the same problem. The cause was my own fault as I had apparently set up two accounts both using my client number, but the first was set up with the incorrect email address, as I say my fault. When I subsequently tried to log on using my correct email address it didn't recognise me, so I set up an account again and activated it. This created my second account, but which showed a different number to my client number. When I saw Matthew in the shop (who was extremely helpful by the way), he deleted my second account for me, and corrected my first. I was then able to log in properly and obtain tickets. The moral is, if you have a problem it may well have been created by you, and not by the club, it might be worth checking out.
You're right in saying that the club might not always be to blame, and credit where credit is due, because I've heard and read several stories about how people down at the ticket office have been very helpful. However, I took the precaution of double checking everything last Friday because certain things on my account didn't tally (e.g. it didn't say 'current season ticket holder' when I logged in, and the client number in the top right wasn't the same as my ST number). The person I spoke to did assure me that my account was set up fine, and that I would be able to buy tickets. Sadly I wasn't. The system does seem unnecessarily complicated. I've bought tickets online for many years, for gigs, festivals, test matches, all sorts of events. I've never had the same sorts of problems I've had with Barnsley FC. I set up my online account prior to being a ST holder. I was looking through all my old e-mails trying to work out what had gone wrong. It seems my reference number changed when I bought a season ticket. Odd. Anyway, my Dad has now managed to get us tickets for this one. Well played! I'll have to get this sorted out for when we're next at Wembley in the play off final!
Oh, I'm not blaming the club. I think the problem with me was that my dad's season ticket was logged against my Email address. I tried to update this and it seems both are logged with my Email address hence the problems. Shouldn't be too much of a problem to sort.
Surely the club should have one database though that can be updated for e-ticketing purposes to show you are now a season ticket holder? Just the ability to cancel your original registration on line and then re-register would suffice. Doesn't seem too hard, especially as my personal details haven't changed, just my status as a season ticket holder.
Agreed. It's a silly system whatever it is. Mine is still not sorted out - but I've been fortunate enough to get tickets from someone else. If I couldn't have done that, I'd have had to wait til general sale, which seems unfair. A more user friendly system is definitely required. I'll contact the box office when it's a bit quieter. On my online account you can even see that I bought my season ticket there.
