I'm still not convinced by him, though didn't say he should go until recently - after Watford. May have been an overly emotional response. Suppose that's the way of a football fan.

The Leicester performance was better, Reading better still. I will make no judgement from whatever happens at Loftus Road, anything better than a three goal loss (I fancy us to lose by two, a spirited performance to go down 3-1 say) would be a decent return to be fair.

The run of fixtures after that look more winnable, and I'm afraid he needs to win a fair few of them, particularly at home to our two local rivals, not because they're Wednesday and donny but because they are likely to be bottom half clubs directly competing to stay up.

So yes I have backed down a little. He deserves the next five games up until after donny. And he needs to win at least two of the home games, ideally all three as boro are quite poor (according to my step father a boro ST holder who is genuinely concerned they are bad enough to go down). Get what we can from Ipswich.

I think he needs at least 7 points from these 5 games to keep his job. Ideally we'll get 9 or 10. Can't imagine getting owt from QPR and I can't see us winning 4 on the bounce either, if he exceeds 9 points I'll admit I was wrong. If he gets 7 he'll probably get another month or two to prove himself. Anything less I think he's struggling. If we perform as we did against Reading in the three home games I think all three will be won. Hope we do it. I'd rather me be wrong than the club be fecked.

I think people questioned more his tactical decisions in the first 6 / 7 games. The way he set the team up looked unbalanced and we could never get going from it. His constant inclusion of 3 DM didn't help.

The Reading performance, if we had lost 1-0 I'm sure fans would have felt more positive with what they saw. A Barnsley team that was set up attacking, that hounded the opponents from the start.

He now needs to try build on that. For me he needs to get a settled team, how he does that with the amount of players only he knows.

That Flicker has gone, replaced by last seasons version. So the 'Flicka out campaign' won really. We should be thanking them.

You led the 'flicka' out protest in the close season if I remember correctly.

The performance and result against Reading has probably bought him some time. I really can't see us getting anything from QPR away but if we get beat by both Boro and Weds at home then the 'Flicka Out Campaign' will be back on again and rightly so.

I can't see that happening though now, the tactics have changed with regards the formation and the selection of 3 DM's - so hopefully we've turned a corner. We should be aiming for 4pts from those two home games imo.
