IF the worst does happen tomorrow, it really wouldn't surprise me to see Doncaster attempting to steal Flicker. Would be a cheap appointment for them, and he could bring a few of our players with him.
They can try but they won't get him. Whatever happens tomorrow Flicker will be the manager of BFC next season.
my spidey sense tells me Danny Wilson for that? unless hes got fixed up somewhere else already? Wilson would be perfect for them imho.
Can't see this happening. Flicker would want full control and not just to be a 'head coach' with Brian Flynn being a Director of Football. Looking at the odds and the rumours going around now, Paul Dickov looks the best bet. A young manager who is highly rated and been linked with a few League 1 jobs since he left Oldham a few months ago. Appointing Flynn as Director of Football suggests to me that a young coach with potential will be coming in. Terry Butcher, Rob Jones (even though he denies it), Glynn Snodin, Owen Coyle (been linked with them before as well), Phil Parkinson and Brian Laws will all be on their shortlist before Flicker. (Based on odds and rumours)
This only link I've seen between Flicker and Doncaster is from a certain Chronicle reporter on Twitter. Be interested to know what happened between the club and the Chron' - they used to be very involved with the club and the back page was always worth a read on a Friday. During this Andrew Lodge "scandal" where he was claiming expenses for petrol yet travelling on a coach to away games someone at the club said "There is no relationship between the club and the Barnsley Chronicle". It is obvious as there really seems to be bitterness from the Chron' and the impression I get is that some of their reporters take a lot of pleasure from the club's defeats. As far as Flicker going to Donny should the worst happen, on one side it's the Championship job that he craves but it would be a big risk given that he is doing so well with this group because he has worked with most of them for almost two years and has known many a lot longer than that. I'm not sure he has the experience to turn up at another club and get the best out of the players. Think of it like your workplace, if you've worked there a while and the opportunity to step up to management arises then you'll probably do OK because you know how the company and the people work...if you get the opportunity at another company that you only know from the outside then the learning curve is much greater and you'd know doubt make a lot of miscalculations.
It would be a nightmare. Not only would we lose a good manager who's managed to unite the club, he'd take numerous players with him because of the strong relationship he has with the squad. It won't happen though, I think he'll stay with us regardless. I don't think Barnsley football club is something he wants to turn his back on, especially after the last 5 months we've had.
It might depend on what the training facilities are like at Donny, don't think he likes the ones at Barnsley.
