I'm as frustrated as hell with this season. Everything seemed in place - a bit of player investment, a successful retainment strategy, a massively more professional admin setup and a vastly experienced chairman to watch and guide over it all. I can't bring myself to want a change of manager because Flicker is the most hard-working and genuine guy you'd ever come across in football. What he achieved last season was phenomenal. My main quibble is probably that he might be a bit too "nice" and maybe shows a little too much respect to other teams and their managers. But the results! As Steeley and M'Voto will attest, "it's a results business". So how does Flicker's record stand up? According to the Fount of All Knowledge (Wikipedia) this is the record: G W D L Win% Thords'n 42 14 15 13 33.33% Hart 51 14 19 18 27.45% Ritchie 88 29 28 31 32.95% Davey 138 45 30 63 32.61% Hill 74 19 15 40 25.68% Flitcroft 35 13 9 13 37.14% To 31.5.13 Flitcroft 26 12 8 6 46.15% So Flicker is still the best we've had for over a decade. The bottom line shows how this season is eroding his figures. Our current rate of points gathering would see us end the season on 26 points. It might not take 55 points to survive this season, but I'm pretty sure it'll take more than 26. So what's to be done? For me - Neil Warnock as Director of Football. Colin could offer a very shrewd eye from the stands and could perhaps help teach Flicker to be a bit more ruthless. He'd be a ready-made replacement if things continued to go awry, so there would be a bit of competition there for Flicker (just like there is now for Steeley). But hopefully, it would mainly be a helping hand for someone who is still a fairly inexperienced manager.
