To all the "doom & gloom" merchants, do you think that if there isn't a dramatic turn around soon Mo & Ben will be advising that he's shown the door by the end of December and they'll use their influence to bring in a "B-Rated" Celebrity Manager from their contacts among ex-Manure players? Personally I think the best thing for Flicker would be a Director of Football type to help him learn the Managerial Trade (he's in his first full-season, remember). I still think that once the Transfer Window shuts and things settle down he'll turn it round but I worry that those above might not be so tolerant. (Just my thoughts posted purely for discussion)
Think we have enough knowledge and experience with Flicker, Mellon, Scott trio, to get us into a respectable position this season. I wouldn't have thought our hierarchy have given a new manager, a single thought.
If we carry on like this I have no doubt he will be given the boot at Christmas or before. But I don't think we will carry on like this, I believe things will improve. I don't expect us to be challenging for promotion, but I think the manager we've got and the players he has available to him are capable of a mid-table position and I believe that's where we'll find ourselves come the new year.
There were plenty that wanted it, the problem was that we publically approached two men who turned us down.
Kept us up with record points total after best half a season we have ever had in second tier, but*now he's a dead man walking in the eyes of many "fans" after four league games and two red cards; Wiseman, Golbourne, Perkins, Dawson, Dagnall, Kennedy, Steele, Mellis,*Scotland (and of course McNulty) all need offloading or giving*away; makes you*wonder what the players and staff think about the quality of our*support; perhaps we should offer all the above players*and the entire*management team to Peterborough where they might be given a decent chance?
You make a decent point but I think it's still only the minority of fans that a reacting so badly at this stage, the vast majority are still 100% behind Flicker and co.
I haven't heard anyone saying Flicker's job is under threat......nobody. We've played 4 league games this season and had some bad luck, players under performing, poor tactics/team selection, bad refereeing decisions, injuries to players who would normally be in starting XI, etc. I am sure we will improve and see a steady climb to mid table. BFC are notoriously slow starters in the league.......always have been in my time as a Reds fan.
Oh dear. Your username is very apt. Don't think I have seen one single person even suggest that Flitcroft should be sacked. In fact, this thread was started by a happy clapper in a thinly veiled attempt to get the "doom and gloom merchants" to say this. By the way, the first two lines of your post are wide of the mark.
I see, perhaps those posters talking about bad apples and clowns on Saturday, and slagging off anyone and everyone who kept us up last season, were only displaying their undying devotion.
Actually it might not be too wide of the mark...Flitcrofts run was, I think, better than Danny Wilsons in the promotion season.
We're a long way off his job being under threat but he really needs to sort his tactics out - it was pathetic at the Charlton game, absolutely hammering them and then he decides to change to a system which just invited Charlton on to us, they were unlucky not to win it in the end.
1: I am not a "happy clapper". You don't know me (as far as I'm aware) so how you can label me as such is beyond me. 2: I personally think Flicker will pull it round as I sai in my original post. 3: There area always people who like to call for heads to roll when things are going wrong. The purpose of my post was not to rattle any cages but to call for support for Flicker to get him through a difficult situation. A promising young player would encouraged when times are rough so why should a promising young manager be any different. No one is more pleased than I am that he has the backing of the fans and I hope that that goes for the Board (not this one) as well but you cannot deny that football is a results-driven industry.
Dear Conan, Well? What's your professional opinion now? And before you start, I'm anything but happy!
