When talking to Rob Staton, he suggested that we may have to recruit another centre half because we are down to just Martin Cranie. He had already explained that M'Voto was touch and go for Boro and that Nyatanga would not be ready until the weekend after at best. Erm, Bobby Hassell? I thought he had finally seen sense and realised he'd been ignoring a quality defender who helped keep us up/him in a job. Strange. And why the **** have we let McNulty out? . Seriously, if he is allowed to recruit another centre half the world has gone mad. . Oh, and the loanee left back would be as "cover" for TK. Barmy.
Seriously, having seen Boro, if he selects an unfit M'Voto, Jacob and his pals will lead us a merry dance. Thankfully, their defence is garbage, too. Hope Pedersen starts against Williams who makes TK look solid.
I completely agree and I know what I'd be saying to him if he came knocking on my door asking for another player to cover at centre half.
[Haven't listened to it but] this sounds bizarre. There just seems to be a complete and total lack of respect. Something's clearly up, I just can't understand it. I also don't understand how Flicker almost expects the fans to forget about Bobby!? :s Because no doubt he'll have a go at the next interviewer who asks him about Bobby. Bobby's not the best player in the world. But he's not that bad! He'd definitely 'do a job' at the very least. It would certainly be much less of a risk to play Bobby for a game than to bring a new player in who doesn't know the team/league/team-mates etc.
Also, in Flicker's player interview, he went to great lengths in naming all the players who went to play in Manchester last week. Guess who never got a mention? It's beyond tedious. And frankly, childish.
Yeah, it does seem childish. Unless we're missing something. But OK, so Flicker doesn't rate him but he could at least give him some positive spin - like every other player he picks. For instance, "TK was excellent today", well, no he wasn't but at least he gave him positive praise. He could say something like, "We're short of cover but we'll bring Bobby in, his wise old head/experience will be invaluable to us". And there would be no issue.
Something MUST have happened byhind the scenes, there's no other possible explanation, it may well even put Flicker in the right but sadly I doubt we'll ever really know.
I think I may have a solution for all parties Why don't we bring Bobby Hassell in on loan. Flicker gets his extra defender with a loan of Championship experience and Bobby gets an opportunity to rejoin the Reds. We probably wouldn't have to pay Bobbys parent club as well ... Probably.
It's leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. A very experienced championship defender, who never lets us down, already in the squad but he is gonna bring someone in? They should tell him to fook off.
If it all goes Pete Tong against Boro and Wednesday they may well invite him to go forth and multiply.
I don't see a problem.Bobby has featured in the last few games now he's back to full fitness.I fully expect Bobby to be on the bench on Saturday and if our injuries don't ease he might even play.
So who's playing centre half alongside Cranie then? M'Voto? Who has been injured for a while and had no match practice? And, has struggled as badly as any centre half this season. Nyatanga? Who hasn't played a competitive fixture for nearly six months.
