Reds Manager David Flitcroft caught up with the press following today's 5-1 hammering at home to Watford. "Completely inept at times, defending-wise. Schoolboy errors. "We accepted good players doing, at times, whatever they wanted to do. That's hurt me, accepting that. Goals change games and the first goal that goes in, the kid was offside and the two goals after that are as poor as you're going to see. "The full 95 minutes of football we've played today isn't good enough and the players were told that. "We've got to defend our box better, because it wasn't an onslaught from Watford. "We put good quality in the box but the breakaway goals they've scored from - lapses of concentration. "We never got the second (goal) so we're talking about the five goals they've scored. "It think if we draw this game today 2-2, are we just papering over cracks? "We're not in denial at the football club. We've got to do something about it." Same ***** in defence. You are never going to alter that defence, it is not up to standard required. Get Kennedy, Wiseman out and replace Dawson. Hope McCourt can give us a bit different with skills up front.. Get some out and fresh faces in.
It isn't honest to pretend the first goal was offside when it wasn't, to then claim that it wasn't an onslaught when it was or to put all the blame on the players when he was solely responsible for them being out of position and playing to idiotic tactics in the first place. Smacks of a manager under pressure trying to deflect the blame onto his players to me
