I got the impression he had some ideas about improving the all around general match day experience.

What would do it for you?

I'd like to think we could do something like when they Arsenalised the Emirates. Wouldn't cost much to get some large photo's up of highlights of our history, frame old shirts, etc. Be good if you were surrounded by BFC history. We have no club museum so spread our history throughout the stands. Get the college involved or a professional company e.g. Totty Signs.

101 things. problem is, this all costs money. the challenge is going to be generating more money than we spend. personally, i think the Club could start to think how they can leverage the fan base. i'm thinking kickstarter projects, crowd sourcing, crowd funding

alternatively, some dude in america just won £390m on the lottery. could we convert him/her??

Nice one flicker about time someone took this on.
Fed up of listening dinosaurs who are happy with status quo .
Football is the over riding event but extra facilities and events are a big factor in the matchday experience

    imo

Sort something out for half-time. Best thing we had was some years ago when we ran that five a side competition for under-11s with games across the pitch. It was often good to watch, but just as important, it got kids into the ground and they brought their pals from school to support, plus parents.

Go into schools and give out free tickets. Obviously then you get some paying adults to take them, then they want a program, half time burger etc.... and hopefully will want to come again.

Barnsley has a load of talented bands. They'd all play for nowt. They do regularly. Open sided lorry in car park. Cost would be nil/minimal.

Still say a bar int Ponty is THE main way to get people in early, without you're struggling.

Ps I agree with the kids HT 5 a side. Get them back.

I would like to see Victorian-style circus acts at half time, such as moustachioed weightlifters in tiger-skin leotards, acrobats swinging from the crossbars, and bearded ladies.

    Or this.

Some decent, well priced food would be decent. Don't really care about much else at the game except from the football but I always fancy a pie at half time. Not going to waste my money buying the **** that's currently served though.

Club should ask supporters for suggestions (involvement breeds interest) and then back this up by using local work force.

I would like a supporters club, improved branding/image, free tickets for schools and local football clubs, scoreboard, get Nike to offer free shirts/sportswear for kids, increased advertising, etc.

The supporters club would be my first priority........I've stated this before on BBS and that is we should have a simple and low-cost steel clad building, TV screens showing interviews and matches, decent beer at lowest feasible price, simple food (again at lowest feasible price), no membership charge if you are a ST holder (nominal charge if not), memorabilia adorning walls.......and just have it a highly social and simple affair......but make it feel "BARNSLEY".

We've loads of available space at back of east stand or even on the corner between Ponty and west stand. It needs a proper business plan and managing correctly........then we've got something to build on.

still don't know why Preedy's isn't opened up to all BFC members, free of charge, from say 12. It might not be ideal, but it's there, it's better than nothing and won't cost anything to set up.

it's difficult to justify the build & running costs of something that will only get used for around 100 hours a year

Win matches that's all that matters to me. Even if we have pre match entertainment you have to consider how many will actually want to get in Oakwell earlier than ten minutes before kick off when most of the season is played in cold/dark/wet months.

the intention to think differently and move the Club forward, is commendable. the challenge is going to be implementing new initiatives which generate more £ than they cost. if that's something which benefits others, but not me personally, i'm all for it.

bottom line is there's very little which would persuade me personally, to arrive at the ground much before kick off. a decent on site pub, that's about it. and i know that's not happening any time soon.

Hound For A Pound never got off the ground though when P Riddy was asked about the idea.

New scoreboard. At Man City, they played the goals back straight away which was (kind of) good but maybe we wouldn't have to go to that extent. Just some pre-match highlights and adverts.

Plenty of posters in the back of stands showing historic moments. The place just needs generally smartening up as well, a lick of paint costs virtually nothing.

More choice of half-time food. The pies are OK actually but, according to the lad serving me, in the Ponty you can get chips as well..? Pizza as well would be a good idea because it's a family food. A simple pre-order system could also be implemented. More bars as well, there's no need for the queues to be a mile long.

Never been in Preedy's but it sounds like a good idea - this could perhaps be expanded to accommodate more fans/family's. If people want to be rowdy, they can go to the Outpost or wherever.

At the charity match recently, the kids were playing a game of footy in a kind of blow-up pitch thing. This was actually really good to watch and would be good half-time entertainment. A little league could be set up and perhaps have two of these pitches, one in front of each of the big stands.

Turn the music down a tad! It's OK when the players are coming out but I don't know when it is - perhaps at half time, the music is so loud you can barely hear yourself think, never mind the person sitting next to you.

Maybe gambling shouldn't be encouraged but perhaps they could make more of that somehow. The stand is just stuck away in the corner there and often just goes completely unnoticed. Get all the odds somewhere we can see them, rather than just scribbled down on a white board.

We need to have more family days like the Open Day/Blackpool game last season. My daughter is 8 and I struggle to get her to matches when the only form of entertainment is football!
    She has a season ticket.
Pre-match entertainment is simple. Get a couple of bouncy castles by the club shop and a balloon maker with red and white balloons. I know that would get my daughter down!
It would be great if the club could have a family area with an indoor children's playground (ball pool, slides etc) which could also be used during the week but I understand space may be a problem.
