A lot of people on here are reading between the lines and coming up with all sorts of assumptions. I have now listed to and read several interviews since Saturday from both the Don and Flicker and it is clear that the Don wants Flicker and that Flicker wants the job. This is confirmed by the Don saying Flicker wants it and by Flicker talking about next season in the context of him being the long term manager. So putting assumptions to one side all the evidence we have heard suggests Flicker will be the long term manager. Not to mention it is Flicker who has drawn up the retain list.

This 2 weeks thing, the Don explained this by saying Flicker has more important things to get on with and also explains that the contract is being written up which "takes time". Those important things will be Flicker negotiating player/staff contracts, sorting out pre-season and targeting new signings. Flickers existing contract still has 3 weeks remaining and considering it is clear he wants the job and the Don wants him to have the job then I would have to agree there are more important things for Flicker to be getting on with. From what I have listed to over the past 6 months it is clear Flicker is a workaholic and it is not surprising that he would relegate his own contract needs over his players/staffs contracts. Typical of him really.

Regarding this long term strategy, there is no evidence that the Don has rubbished Flickers demands and there is also very little information as to what these demands are. In this recent interview, which took place after a meeting between the Don and Flicker, the Don sounds confident Flicker will sign and he also acknowledges that this strategy has been discussed. This suggests Flicker made his case and the Don either agreed or met him half way, which ever is the case it sounds like Flicker is signing and he wouldn't be signing if he felt the club had no vision or that he wasn't been listed to.

Everyone needs to chill out and stop worrying. Flicker will be the manager and the Don will do everything he can to help him.
