Is he still at the club then or what? Looks like he has no chance of getting the job.

I'd like to see him stay in some capacity.

Good. I didn't go Saturday. A neighbour did. (his and kids 1st game). He was bored. Silly passing, no wingers, didn't look like scoring. Although he liked the look of dawson. Sounds too familiar what I've witnessed all season. I don't want flicker anywhere near the club if he is just going to carry on in keiths shoes

Me too. Seems like a grafter and the players seem to like him.

Listening to dons interview though, I think he will be off.

SOME of the players seem to like him. Others seem as though they can't stand him from what I've seen.

I've said it before, we are paying him so we might as well utilise him in some capacity. If he wants to that is. I can see a quick Hillflicker reunion at Donny and they end up with another promotion on their cv!:D

Me too. I think he has something to offer and out of Hills shadow he might just turn out to be a bloody good coach.

I think the pair have already proved their pretty decent coaches, both here and at Rochdale.

Problem was tactically more than anything.

How much influence did he have though and I'm not saying he is blameless. I just think that the new manager would benefit from having him around.

I think he had plenty considering how close they said they were.

Agree entirely about him staying. Can't see it though.

I may be missing something here mate but they are paid as football coaches to coach the players to win games, so in which way are they good coaches ? It is not the defensive side of the game they excel at or the attacking side of it either, or how to break teams down! They have not taught Wiseman how to head the ball, McNulty how to pass the ball, Dagnall how to score, anyone how to cross the ball, any defender to defend a cross, so I must have missed something in their ability to be a good coach at Barnsley!
    Plus they are bullies!

That's what coaching is at this level isn't it? Getting your players to implement the tactics you set out in training. The players they work with already have the skills necessary to be football players. They learnt these growing up and in youth academies. Coaching at this level isn't teaching players how to kick a ball or turn a man. It's how to play as a team in order to defeat the opposition. Corner routines, defensive set-up, attacking in numbers. In short, tactics.

So at this level there is no room left for a player to get better individually?

We've taken players from League One and Two and now they're getting interest from Championship clubs. That to me shows they've got better while playing for us and Hillcroft should take some credit for it.

They failed when it comes to getting results but in terms of developing players I think they did ok.

They were also focussing on coaching the players to be better individually, maybe too much so. And I think they have done that (Dawson, Vaz Te, Butterfield, Drinkwater, Davies)

In fairness they also took over a Rochdale team bottom of the football league and had season on season improvement every single year.

They had a difficult time back end of last season and a difficult time mid-season this year, with each one for different reasons. Essentially the one that cost them was panicking and abandoning their principles. But I reckon they'll learn and come back stronger.

We'll see. Reckon they'd be here with Rochdale anyway if they hadn't come to us. Whatever went wrong in 2012 they built my favourite team since we've been back at this level until it was ripped apart last January.

There's always room for improvement, but I think the coaches of the senior team at Oakwell will spend very little time on improving the skills of the individual players.

I would say that our lower league recruits now interesting other Championship clubs shows that Keith Hill has a good eye for a player, rather than he's a good coach. He's given them a stage to show their talents and other teams can now see they are capable at this level. Perkins and Done are the latest to attract interest and I wouldn't say either has improved much over the time they have been here. Perkins was right at it from day one. Done looks like he's gone backwards to me. Wiseman's form has been erratic from the off. Good games and bad games. That has continued this year and he started to fall apart at the end, but I don't think the crowd helped there. He doesn't look any better now than when he came and I'm surprised Blackpool are interested. Davies I thought did improve, but over the last month or so seems to have gone backwards again.

Keith spent next to nowt on players and got some very decent deals. I've always thought with the players we've got we should be doing better and that is down to the standard of the coaching.
