Just listened to his Press Conference on Player. Top man!! Cant have been the best couple of weeks for him and he understands the fans gripes against him and makes no qualms about that - But boy does he seem passionate about the club and his job!! Good lad - Hopefully he can lead us to a good result on Saturday then who knows...... One things for certain - Gi mi him in dugout rather than Branson any day of the week!!!
I thought he came across really well. Sounds like he has plenty of contacts in the game. Maybe his mates Harry Redknapp and Roberto Martinez will lend us a few players to help bail us out. Or maybe they were just enquiring about the availability of John Stones...
I agree and I'm starting to think that the best thing for the club to do is to give him the job until the end of the season.
Sounds a top guy... I'd much rather see Flicker carry on than Branson, or someone with less experience than what he has (i.e. ex players that have never managed!) If we could get someone experienced in then maybe Flicker could stay on as assistant? Although the argument for a 'clean break' is a strong one.
Re: If we manage to get a result against Leeds Come on Cryne , Rowing, the new manager is camped outside your door. Give Flicker the job and let's get moving up that table. Fill your boots with gas
I actually despair sometimes when I read this board. 2 rejections and suddenly half of the worst managerial partnership ever to grace Oakwell becomes our saviour. You couldnt make it up. Lets hope Patrick can hold his nerve and find us someone slightly more blessed with football management qualities.
Spot on. "OHHHHH NOOOOO! Two average managers have turned us down! Which equates to EVERYBODY not wanting it. Let's give it to Sidekick." Piss funny.
I'm a bit baffled As to why Flitcroft's services were retained when Hill was sacked. They came as a team, having worked together for a number of years, something they both went to great lengths to emphasise. This wasn't a partnership concocted for the first time when joining Barnsley, ala Anderson & Wilson, or Hart & Ritchie (where the No.2 later moved up after the manager had left). If ones goes, they both go. If one stays, they both stay. I still think Flitcroft will get the job until the end of the season.
Aye, all these great managers are queing up for the job. Everybody's quick fix solution has fell on it's face so stop bairning and let Flitcroft get on with it while he's there. We need points and the best way to get them is to get behind the lads and start by beating Leeds tomorrow. Dog in a manger job with some of you lot.
Well, I'll certainly be doing that But it doesn't mean I have to agree with David Flitcroft being kept on, or being given the job.
I don't think anyone agrees on that one Kev, but some would rather lose tomorrow out of spite for Flitcroft.
I don't know whether that's true or not But I'll be there tomorrow, giving them all, including Flitcroft, my backing.
We're not far away. We're really not. SOD was perfect - similar style to what we usually play, experience etc. He doesn't want it. Flitcroft was always the next best option for me.
No names mentioned, but yesterday someone posted that if we perform well and beat Leeds, there is a danger that Flitcroft's chances of being offered the job on whatever basis, would improve. I asked if he would rather we lost and he didn't reply. I'll be there in spirit as it's looking beyond my means this week!
