Ok, so in the mental world of football, how long before Flicker starts getting linked with other Clubs? Should we get him tied down now, or could that still be an unsettling knee jerk reaction?
No leave everything as it is till end of the season. We've seen many of these threads when Hill was doing okay at the start of the season.
I don't think I ever saw this under Hill though. At any point. And it seems very evident now, that any success was likely down the number 2. Even if we did go down, would there be a better man to try and bring us back up?
There would be no better man to try and get us backup if we went down. He has totally galvanised the club and the fans . I say give him a Pardew. 8 year contract!
Love it ! Glavinised. Thank you. With your permission I will start using that word at every opportunity!
Personally I would tie him up now on a longer term deal. The more I see and hear of him, the more I see his team working for him, the more I believe we have stumbled on someone who will now go far in management. If you listened to the Rochdale fans when we got Hill they were more bothered about losing Flitcroft! Maybe Hills past achiements were as a result of Flicker ..... And when it didn't work for him at Barnsley he didn't have the skills to adapt where Flicker (now in full control of matters) does? Don't get me wrong, I didn't shout for Flitcroft (I didn't shout to get rid of Hill either) however let's look at the facts now: We asked for someone to turn around results ..... Flicker certainly has achieved that! We asked for someone who could re-unite the fans .... He's done that. Someone who shows passion and fight ..... Errrrr, that box ticked. Contacts & respected in the game ..... Certainly has that & SOMEONE WHO WE COULD AFFORD WHO WANTED TO BE AT OAKWELL!! As a club we've not shown Flickers utmost loyalty (he was almost out of the door whilst we offered the role to others) and therefore I don't think he would hesitate if a decent offer came his way in the near future. Just listening to the man talk about his team makes me feel proud to be a red again! Gone is all the negativity and 'we're shopping at Aldi' quotes. All I hear now is passion and commitment to the cause and a belief we CAN WIN! Tell someone they are not good enough or not as good as others and you get the results of 2012! Tell someone you have belief in them and 'Can Do attitude' then that's what you get. (Ps. I believe Mr Hill may have learnt this also in recent weeks so hope it stands him in good stead for the future.)
To be fair, this might be part of the deal. For all we know, he was told 'keep us up and you get a 3 yr deal'
Aye agree, and could he walk away from players who it was said wanted him to get the job and probably did.
Errr no we didn't! He got the job after one of the worst performances and lack of effort from a reds team I've ever seen ....and compounded with the fact it was a loss against the Fowls made the decision to appoint him even more questionable. Compare that to the effort shown against Leeds when Flickers got the job and recent commitment since and it's not surprising there is a dawn of optimism around now! (Please don't quote Liverpool & Chelsea wins in the cup ..... Players don't need a manager to get themselves up for that kind of challenge!) Last time we had a bit of passion in the team .... Richie?
He was also in the set up here which took two years almost,to build so when he took over it just needed fine tuning plus he was aufait with the surroundings and staff which will h e been a big help so in my humble opinion flicker will not move for a while until he has confidence in his long term ability to be a good manager in his own right. He, gonna try and build something here and I say more power to his elbow
