    Keeper ready for comeback
NICK Colgan could be handed back the Barnsley keeper's jersey back on Boxing Day.

The Irishman was on the bench at Yeovil on Saturday after several weeks out with an nagging ankle injury.
Scott Flinders has taken over but manager Andy Ritchie conceded the England under-20 youngster from Rotherham "might have done better" with Yeovil's winning goal in the 2-1 defeat.
A shot was blocked by Flinders and the rebound fell for centre-back Efe Sodje to net comfortably.
Barnsley have a break until Boxing Day when the Christmas programme begins with a home game against Hartlepool.
Martin Devaney is expected to be fit after illness.

not many were clambering for Colgan to be reinstated above Flinders at the begining of this season. just goes to show. that. etc.

    Lies dammend lies etc

But fair enough - Colgan was playing very well before his injury. Scott has done OK but has made a couple of mistakes. Colgan should be given the place back on Boxing Day

    RE: How things change

Sat with TFP at the opening game of the season and we both commented on how we were happy to see Colgan in goal.

It's how the whole team defend, not just the goalkeeper, but...

I don't think Colgan has been at fault for a single goal this season. Flinders has spilled a few now that have then been burried. I'm not getting on at him, I think he's going to be a very good 'keeper, but football is no place for sentiment. While we've got a chnace of promotion we play the best we've got. At the moment that is Colgan.

    He's at Crewe on loan

Played the first half dozen games of the season, then was either dropped or injured, but he's been back in their goal for the last couple.

susm it up well, everybody wants the youngsters to do well and favours them like i'm always for Jarman playing, but when youve got a chance you play the best youve got not the ones that you want to be the best.

    No I agree with you

Based on performances this season Colgan is definitely first choice - Flinders isnt a bad reserve though and I think will ultimately become a better keeper than Colgan

With keepers I think that you just have to stick with one, if they have a couple of bad games or get injured then you bring your reserve in and I think that they should stay in until they make a few mistakes or get injured.
So in this case I think Ritchie has got it right.

(Well thats what I do on Football Manager!)
