PREMIERSHIP Club Wigan Athletic are the latest club to take an interest in Reds keeper Scott Flinders and the youngster will spend next week training with the JJB Stadium side.Scott, who impressed during a week long trial with Chelsea earlier this season, will spend next week with Wigan and will work with the likes of Mike Pollitt, John Filan and Gary Walsh.</p> The 19-year-old keeper has enjoyed a fantastic couple year at Oakwell after breaking into the first team in March 2005. He has made 19 first team appearances for the Reds but has been limited to just eight outings this term.A regular with England's U20s, Scott also represented the Football League at U21 level against Italy last month. He signed a new long term contract earlier this season, keeping him at Oakwell until 2008.</p> Reds boss Andy Ritchie told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk this morning: "Scott will go and train with Wigan until Thursday."It is the same arrangement as when he went down to Chelsea and Wigan will have a closer look at him this week". </p> http://www.barnsleyfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/BreakingNewsDetail/0,,10309~801268,00.html</p>
Personally, I think it would be a good thing if Scott left - depending on the money we got for him. I base this on tieing Colgan down to a new contract. What I dont get is Andy Ritchie's comments. He has clearly stated that he is not willing to let Scott leave and sees his long term future at the club. So, why does he let him on go trial at Wigan and Chelsea without even agreeing a fee before hand. Im sure Scott would jump at these two clubs, so its not as if he needs to see the set up etc...... I just looks to me as if Ritchie is saying one thing and doing the other....
this is absolute *****... next year yes... but as I see it... The club just wanna make money out of him. And although we can't fault colgan (much) this year, both are keepers are being "watched" by many teams... So, the danger is, flog flinders, and colgan goes for nothing when his contract ends at the end of the season. Keepers next year???? It needs to be made clear who will be first choice next year and then they/we can make our minds up. Personally I would put flinders in, and get his value up a bit more before selling him as a reserve keeper. Rant over
"will work with the likes of Mike Pollitt, John Filan and Gary Walsh." Doesn't quite have the same ring to it as working with the best 2 keepers in the Premiership - Cech and Cudicini
"The 19-year-old keeper has enjoyed a fantastic couple year at Oakwell after breaking into the first team in March 2005." How can he have had a "fantastic couple of years" since March 2005? That's a year ago!
RE: Brilliant. Dont all over-react. This may be with a view to a summer signing, none of us know if AR has someone lined up for next year anyway. Lets just see how it pans out. They may already have discussed a fee, you dont know and I dont.
6 weeks but he'll change it just before somebody complains to GS! "Not my Fault boss. Check the site out?"</p> "You're brilliant Robert, keep up the good work. Its only 1 complaint per 9000 customers. Great figures in anyones eyes."</p>
Dont give him credit where it isnt due He finished changing the website AFTER the complaint had been recieved.</p>
Has it changed yet? What will he change "a fantastic couple year" to? "half a fantstic couple year"? Is this some kind of equal opportunities position?
If they do they should include "free one week, no quibble trial" In fact perrys should be replaced on the back of our shirts with a message advertising the entired squad to any interested parties. Wouldnt want to upset any of them by not letting them go on trial if any tom dick or harry seemed even slightly interested</p>
It's obvious isn't it? We arent offering anybody new contracts so that they can go out and look for other clubs that care about them more.</p> I'd have thought we would have learnt something from when we took 2 players off Scnuthorpe but it would seem not.</p>
