What better gesture could the club make to Flicker and his backroom team than to give them their long-term contracts now? Let's be realistic; wherever we end up next season, who better than them would we even hope to bring in? The one-club ethos they've tried to instil would be galvanised by this and it just sends out a message to everyone involved that the club are planning long-term. If I were a player, I'd be thrilled for Flitcroft and really put in a shift for the rest of the season (not that they haven't already!) Great morale boost, tonic for the troops and other such terms. Do it Don.
won't happen. you're assuming flicker would accept a contract offer. i'm not so sure. he's proved he's a championship-level manager, and i'd be very surprised if he would go back to league 1 now.
my only reservation with flicker is that am not sure he has yet got the stature to attract the players we need to the club, but that will come with any success he may have and i would have no problem with him being handed a contract extension, but lets be honest, does anyone really think that the club will be that forward thinking ?
Well that's just it, he hasn't yet really, has he? If he's not offered the job, I can't see him walking easily into another straightaway, apart from Spotland as Keith's No.2
Don will definitely not decide Flicker's future. He might sit down and discuss terms, once the 'real' boss says so.
Hill got told his no 2 had to come from within at Rochdale, article in today's football league paper about flitcroft
He's contracted til the Summer. They'll then sign a 12 month rolling contract, whatever division we're in. My opinion.
Hope you're right. I'd love to see a pre-season under flicker. If we did go down, he's the best man for me to bring us straight back up
Don has already made a statement that there will be no contract discussions until the summer break, when we know which division we will be playing in and what our operational budget will be for 2013/14.
He wasn't my choice for manager, but I hope he gets the job full time no matter what division we're in. We need to stick with someone for the long haul. Unless they are truly appalling, as Keith was in 2012. Unless we lost 7 or 8 of the last 8 games, I'd be very surprised if the club don't give him it.
I think my point is that everyone is just assuming flicker would stay on. For all we know, flicker may have said he will look for another champ job if we go down
