http://www.environment-agency.gov.u...?area=123WAF969&page=1&type=River&term=dearne River Dearne and its tributaries from Denby Dale to Mexborough Further rainfall is expected, particularly over the western Pennines. The rainfall is expected from 1pm continuing through the night with heavy and persistent rainfall from midnight. The rainfall will move from North West to South East with the heaviest rainfall over the hills. Some flood warnings are expected to be issued. "Washlands at Old Moor, Bolton Ings, Cudworth, Houghton, and Wombwell are expected to flood. If river levels rise further, Washlands at Adwick, and Dearne Mouth are expected to flood." Hope we don't see a the kind of flooding that hit Darton a few years back.
the power of water is greater even than the power of thereev's posts on here. how profound one thinks
Houghton?? I thought the nearest the Dearne went to Houghton was Darfield - going to be some flood if it reaches Houghton!!
Re: Houghton??..........meaning Houghton Washland.........which is......... .....at the side of the river and is owned by the Environment Agency for flood relief and stretches from Houghton Main Roundabout (across the road from ASOS) to nearly Darfield Bridge
hey lads, codding aside, i saw the last floods close hand at Lundwood, ripped through the village at speeds in excess of 50mph!! and caused nearly £8.50s worth of damage. sorry Lundwooders just a bit o banter
Re: Houghton??..........meaning Houghton Washland.........which is......... police parked at cundy cross roundabout bloking off the rd at 00-45 hrs
Re: Houghton??..........meaning Houghton Washland.........which is......... They've updated saying 'warning no longer in force' so looks like it's just the wind to battle with this morning.
Ha Ha. Made me giggle that!! I remember when Darton flooded. Was running about all over with sandbags. Was happy to hel but was so so glad it wasn't my house with the Dearne running through it. Thoughts go out to anyone who suffers a flood - Must be awful.
Re: Apparently if the town gets flooded anyone remember when the lock gate on the dearne at bolton ings went down probably around the mid 80's.... water backed up and flooded everywhere.. was down for days until it got lifted....
