Managing Barnsley, currently top of League One afer 31 games, level on points with Donny. Got to Round 4 of the FA Cup, including a 2-1 win over Man City.

Main thing I wanted to mention though was how mad I've gone with signing strikers :pff

So far I've signed the following forwards:

Alan Lee
Brett Ormerod
Stern John
Robbie Fowler
Dennis Bergkamp
Quincy Abeyie (loan)

I'm sure there's another too but can't remember.

Sold Nardiello for £1m to West Ham and Andy Morrell to Wigan for 500k (after he'd got over 25 goals at over a goal a game, but had a release clause in his contract) so needed some replacements in January, so in came Fowler and Bergy for £275k and £160k respectively, pretty pleased with that! Bergy has 2 in less than 2 games so far, Fowler's not bad.

Best striker I have though is Hayes, he's superb (H)

How's everyone else getting on?

39 games gone, 14 points clear of third place so looks like promotion will soon be sealed. The media have just laughed at Bergkamp and said he's past it and should retire despite his 9 goals in as many games for me and form of 10-9-8-8-8... interesting advice there, well done.

Been scoring 4/5 a game recently but just got beaten 3-2 by 2 goals in the last two minutes by fecking Donny who are second so I'm orf to bed at last :pff

Wow

Good to see you doing well mate, and bringing quality like Fowler and Bergy to Oakwell!

Im at Villa and struggling big-time. Supporters organising a pressure group to get shut of me. Really need to be in charge next season though due to some key bosmans coming in. Board wanted a respectable league position at start of season, but im currently sitting 5th bottom with 8 games to go. Having said that, if I string 2/3 wins together I could be mid-table.

Was sacked at Barnsley november 2005

Won first 2 games, then lost about 10 in a row

Took over at Northampton late december whilst they was 23rd and finished the season in 12th which is good, had a fantastic start to season, rejected managers job at Swansea because they had hardly any money and a crap squad and in January 2007 whilst we were 4th Preston approached me.

They had a very good squad and about £2m to spend on transfers and to my surprise they were 22nd in L1, I took over brought in Quadiola(sp?) and Clive Clarke which turned out to be fantastic signings and since I've took over we've won about 20 games, drawn about 6 and lost 1...

I'm currently top of the Championship.

i wont lg 1 first season was a stroll all told. horsfield, and carlton cole on loan. dion dublin rock in my defence and mcphail was class in the middle. currently trying to consoldate in championship. plenty of cash but the board wont let me spend it. currently 18th was in relgation zone but won 3 in a row. i ripped into the players in the media when asked. game after we beat milwall 7-1. so i keep shouting at them when we are level at half time seems to do the trick.

Wayne...

When you got sack at Barnsley, was it easy to get another job with same manager? Or did you retire and start as new manager?

My FM 06 update...

Still not got a PC that can cope with it!

So still on FM05 - mind you, far from fed up with that,.

Major rebuilding of squad as I lost 2 key strikers on Bosmans at start of season, sold last seasons top scorer (44 in 49 games), 22 year old Calderon to Man Utd for £35m (bought for £275k as a 17 yr old) in the Jan transfer window as he's out of contract end of next season and we'd been without him so far this season due to injury. 9th in table - pushing for 5th, CL place looks beyond us. 5th round of FA Cup (beat Arsenal 4-1 away in round 3), just beaten Monaco 2-0 at home in 1st Knockout round of UEFA cup.

RE: 7th in championship

Second time managing Barnsley. Did about four seasons with them before getting sacked. Got into the playoffs every season but couldnt get promoted through them. Won the LDV 2/3 (cant remember) times. 3rd season I was top after about 40 games since the beginning of the season and did my very best to blow it. Finshed 3rd (1 point off 2nd!) and lost in play-off final. Next season i got sacked cos the board sais i should have won the league but i was mid-table/playoffs after about 30 games. Got sacked and Danny Wilson took over. Looked for a few jobs but started again. Currently 2nd in league 1. Only lost 1 game out of 14. Got a far better squad now with my experience last time round. Got Obeyie and John upfront - both quality. Also Hayes as a quality third striker.

nice one

i too was top then lost last 4 games to finish 3rd in league 1. needed penalties to get through.

adam green from fulham (left back) is a decent signing as is doriva.
442 for me. i never play zonal marking as we get pumped all the time with it

Promotion complete...

Went on a really poor run tonight in the last few games but sealed promotion and the title by thrashing Huddersfield 5-0 with a Bergkamp hat-trick, then finished the season off by winning 3-0 at Chezzy with a hat-trick for McPhail (2 pens!)

nice one

last 5 games of my 2 seasons now they go to pot. was 7th in champ and finished 10th. maybe they can't react to pressure well. the fitness is fine so i'm not sure how to combat it
