FM2005 players - a query

Has anyone had a player "disappear" from their squad list?

I'm in pre-season, a 24 year old defender just signed a new contract after much trying.
Next pre-season game theres an empty space in the team line-up and its him....checked through squad, reserves etc and he's not there....do a search on the name though and it still shows he's with the club!

I take it he didn't come back then?

He's a top player - England international, loads of clubs after him and managed to get him to re-sign.

Seeing as I'd not done much since last save I'll go back to that and se if it happens again.

Its annoying when things like this happen, bad enough when games aren't going your way or players won't sign but blips like this in the game!
Had one last week - I'd just finished season in 4th in Premier to qualify for Europe for first time and the save screwed up losing all that session of 5 matches - took me ages to replay it all so that I finished 4th again!

it happened to me with dean gorre, no big loss really, but if it was a gud player i would have been a bit pist. have u made sure you havent got any filters on?

Checked all the filters - unless theres one for filtering out England internationals then there aren't any set.
I'm going back to previous save - can't afford to just lose a young £5m rated defender.

It's doing my head in over the last week - I spent most of my time on the game last week trying to recover from a corrupt save, just got back to where I was and then this happens!

On top of that players who won't sign cause I'm not offering enough money and then they sign for someone else for half the salary I was offering!

I dont actually know what the particular problem is here mate, or how it is solved. All I can say is that it doesnt surprise me. I have had many similar things happen, hence my reason to stop playing the game until FM2006. I may wait until the transfer deadline has passed and download an unofficial player update, then may decide to give it a go.

The many bugs like the one you mention in the game are ridiculous.

Some of the bugs, particularly the one where a manager doesn't take over your club when you leave, are down to very poor testing. Others maybe take quite a while to show up and others are perhaps down to individual machines.
I've seen details of whats planned for FM2006 and it sounds good (half time team talks and full time comments to your team are 2 I wanted in) but I'd probably need a new PC - not seen the specs yet.
From a playing point of view it's going ok - I've now had 3 seasons in the Premier, would have got relegated in season 2 but for a 2-1 win at Arsenal in the final game, and they had been unbeaten at home all season. Followed that up with 4th place (only lost to Arsenal, Man U and Liverpool in first half of season) and Champions League qualification, apart from the signing of a 34 yr old Wes Brown plus a quality striker as part of a part-ex from Chelsea who went on to score 25 goals, I didn't really add to the squad! Brown has been quality though in an otherwise young defence and I've been trying to figure out how I to give him a player-coach role.
Just having trouble now getting any decent players to sign, I can agree terms with clubs but the players end up wanting over £60k a week even when they are currently on much lower and they end up going elsewhere for a lot less!
