I for one am happy LJ isn't jumping in and making panic buys, would much rather him run the rule over players and want players who want to be here and not pick up a pay check! Let's judge the squad after the first game!

Let's judge the squad after a dozen games, at least.

It's a funny old game innit. We do look a shade light at the moment and would look more depleted should we lose Holgate and Turnbull. But if we then bring in a couple of the triallists then things look rosey again. Omar Rowe in particular looks to be highly thought of in numerous places.

But we still need a good dozen players brought in. Especially if Holgate and Turnbull end up going too. I thought we'd have learned things from last summer with bringing in players late. We don't have the Steele/COG excuses this summer either. If we identify players way in advance you'd think by now we'd have had nearer 7-8 players brought in not three.

Unless we bring a dozen good players in at least, its going to be another long hard season.

Was listening to an interview with Mark Warburton the other day. He was emphasising importance of keeping squads really tight on numbers. It's always better to have a smaller number of better players than a large amount of poorer ones. If we've got clear identified targets that were trying to get in I'd rather this than jumping in any day of the week.

Is there any squad in league 1 that doesn't need more recruitment at the moment. Fitness issue only holds once we're substantially behind others in terms or recruitment.

It's looking like last season all over again when serious squad rebuilding couldn't take place until O'Grady was off the books. No such get out clause this time around.

True but after signing Hourihane on 25th June, we didn't sign another play until 22nd July. We then signed 8 players before the start of the season. And I think the squad is stronger now than this time last year so I think we are in a better position but still need at least 6 more players

I'm keeping my mouth shut until at least the end of September, but at the minute I'm quite pleased about the way the club is going about their business. At the rate we've brought in players so far, and considering the window has only been open less than a week, I reckon we'll have at least 8 or 9 players by the season start.

Recruiting late will give us all chance to use the word 'gel' in every post, like first 5 months of last season. It started to do my nut in, in fact can we ban it from being used this season?
