My favourite band, pure class. As for their best song.......almost impossible to pick. First thought would be Hey Nineteen, but its just one among scores of great tracks.

Toss up between Rikki Don't Lose That Number and Dirty Work.

    Great band.

Good call. I love Midnight Cruiser!
Shame there's next to no chance of seeing them live. After jj cale died I decided I needed to see some of my favourite groups before its too late!

Yes I spelt it wrong though!

    Midnite Cruiser.

EDIT: Might be YouTube who spelled it wrong, have to check the album.

Like Deacon Blues as well forgot about that one.

They're still touring, albeit US only these days. And don't expect a Skunk Baxter solo; it's just Fagen/Becker with some tip-top session men. Mind you, that's generally what SD were! I saw them at Wembley Arena the night we gubbed Stoke at home at the start of the prem promotion campaign. Sept 96? They were brilliant, as were tarn. I think Neil Thompson larruped one in from 30yards just as Dan launched into My Old School.

If you like Steely Dan, check out an album of SD covers by Rebecca Tornqvist & Sara Isakkson - 'Fire In The Hole'. Utterly sublime, and my favourite SD album, if that makes sense!

    Babylon Sister.
Ain't never gonna do it without your fez on.
    Kid Charlemagne.

Donald Fagen came up with a few good ones of his own as well.
I like their tunes because if you listen to them carefully they are quite complicated. Makes you listen.

    Their best song

for me is Don't Take me Alive - fantastic guitar work by Larry Carlton, closely followed by Kid Charlemagne.

Best Album - Pretzel Logic. Just beats Royal Scam due to the over-long monotonous title track Royal Scam.
