When you live here you know it is special and full of special sort of friendly wacky folk
But Barnsley hasn't got much else going for it

So why should people from outside the district with no family ties to the district want to support Barnsley FC ???

    Whats the attraction???

Those that haven't any ties to Barnsley please explain because it would be interesting to know

My mate supports Leeds because he liked the kit they wore one year

He particularly liked the sock tags they used to wear! :D

Picked at random when I was back home in Australia. May have been through one of the old Championship Manager games, can't remember.

Think it was the season before the promotion season. It's hard to follow anything other than the Premiership in Oz , with games being in the middle of the night. It's only been the past few seasons where I've really got more involved.

Over here now and loving it.

Because it was the first place I was taken to watch a match. I grew up in Ponte and if I'd have been taken to Donny or, God forbid Leeds, then I'd probably be supporting them today. But walking up those steps into the Brewery stand and seeing the stadium in front of me made a huge impression on me and from then on it was always going to be a big part of my life. I hardly know the town itself so to be honest it's not got much to do with it for me. It was just the luck of the draw.

change of scenery, the chance to see Barnsley play, never been to Europe before. it's only an 18 mnth transfer from work. don't think I could do the weather permanently.

It's a bit of thing for Australians in their mid 20's to do. I've got my girlfriend, one of her mates and and a couple of my mates landing in April for a couple of years.

Do you still get Australia Day off, even when you're over here?

I'm looking forward to Australia Day. It's my birthday. A Public Holiday on my birthday. Gerrin! I was a bit disappointed when I found out it is the Monday afterwards you get off but even so. As a bonus, my birthday will suddenly be in the middle of summer too, rather than the middle of winter when no chuffer wants to do owt and everybody is "detoxing".

I am from Wigan (and was really only interested in rugby) but I went to Barnsley College and the year after the Prem year I started going to the games and fell in love with the club and have been going when i can ever since.

Nah I'm not up in Barnsley, living in Guildford down in Surrey. Didn't see any games in Jan but have been to West Brom (H), Liverpool, Sheff Wed, Palace and Sheff Utd. It's a bit of travel on the weekends but its not a bad way to see a bit of the country.
