Is our main priority now to look for a decent Championship standard forward? Assuming we have say, £1.5 million in the kitty, who could that land us with? Personally I'd like to see a veteran who knows the league inside out. Danny Graham or Kevin Davies type. We know Bradshaw knows where the net is, but we need a proper centre forward, an old school 'number 9'
I doubt we will go down the experienced route. It doesnt fit our business model and we have had more misses than hits when we have tried it They tend to also want a lot more than we will pay. Graham or Davies will want in excess of 10k per week Far more likely to be an up and coming striker from the lower leagues, or possibly a loan from the prem I agree we need someone though as we only have Bradshaw + a couple of Acadamy graduates who may make the grade but certainly not by August.
I'd question how many "hits" in this position we've had within the business model...Winnall is the one shining light here so far
Fair point but at least the misses dont cost too much Not saying I agree with the policy - we have had successes like Jason Scotland, Marlon Harewood and Chris OGrady - the key is finding the right player and I dont think we are really looking in that direction at the moment. Personally I wouldn't want Danny Graham and I dont know who I would suggest who I would want and is availlable
Danny Graham would be a good signing but we probably can't afford him. I personally would like to see us have an experienced defender, forward and midfielder in the squad at all times. We've got Hammill and Roberts probably counts now, one of our 4 strikers can be an older head. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cauley Woodrow? 22 yrs old. 6ft1. quick and strong. Spent second half of last season on loan at Burton from Fulham scoring 5 in 14. Currently away with England U21s
Good shout this, not the best scoring record but young enough to be developed and clearly not needed at Fulham if they loaned him to Burton. I would also possibly suggest John Akinde, 27 so had plenty of experience albeit not in this league, but is a very strong and powerful player that would be a handful for defenders in this league and could be a great partner for Bradshaw
League Two top scorers:- 1 John Akinde Barnet 26 John Marquis Doncaster Rovers 3 Danny Hylton Luton Town 22 4 Matty Godden Stevenage 20 James Collins Crawley Town 6 Omar Bogle Grimsby Town 19 David Wheeler Exeter City 8 Luke Berry Cambridge United 17 9 Chris Porter Colchester United 16 10 Ollie Watkins Exeter City 15
I can understand the call for an experienced c/f as our centre halves were out thought , muscled , fouled , bullied etc . But we cannot afford a Martin , Fletcher , Wood , Murray , Graham et al ....
We will sign: a proven goal scorer from lower leagues , Scotland or abroad. A promising prem striker on loan. A player who can play wing and up top. All under 24. or summat
Don't forget Geronimo . I so looked forward to geoff and the panel announcing that Geronimo had scored . The puns they must have lined up . But alas ....
He's signed for Burton, Allen, old mate. https://www.burtonalbionfc.co.uk/news/2017/june/2006-boycesigns/
