On MTV2 last night ... ... it was so obvious that they had lowered the key of the majority of the tracks - just so Dave could hit the notes live. Decent band. Top drummer. Cack on stage though.
RE: On MTV2 last night ... They're on Kerrang now. Couple of great tracks, but mostly it's pretty bog-standard stuff that they get way with 'cos 'he used to be in Nirvana'.
RE: On MTV2 last night ... He's a skinny bloke ... but when he sings live he has the fattest neck in the world. It's a shame that Robbie Coltrane killed himself. I loved Nirvana me. I am one of the 894,006 people who claim to have seen them at the Octagon.
RE: On MTV2 last night ... And I'm proud to say I'd rather have shoved barbed wire up my arse than listen to Nirvana. Up there with the Beatles and Oasis as 'most overrated band of all time, ever'. And I can play the James Bond theme on the guitar, so yes, I am qualified to comment. Well, I say 'guitar'. It's a shoebox with some elastic bands stretched over it, and the 'tune' is actually me humming, but I did once fall into a drumkit. I was scouted by the White Stripes after that, but I think the green alcopop episode put them off.
RE: On MTV2 last night ... "they get way with 'cos 'he used to be in Nirvana'." Disagree on that point
Pfff. That bird out of the White Stripes keeps speeding up & slowing down ... she must think she's in Bucks Fizz or summat. I play the trouser trombone. Every morning. In the shower. I thought Nirvana were brilliant. Even better than Carl Regan.
RE: On MTV2 last night ... Just don't get it mate. I've heard much better bands that haven't gone anywhere. I simply wonder how far they'd have got starting from scratch without the 'someone famous already' bonus card.
I kind of agree. Whatever Dave touches turns to Gold. Look at QOTSA when he appeared on 'No-one knows'. He is the exact opposite of Nigel Spankmonkey.
RE: On MTV2 last night ... I can list band after band that haven't got anywhere. A mate of mine was in a band and they didn't even get signed up - they supported Little Angels on the day that LA announced they had a record deal, boy weren't they arrogant tossers about that one "Come on, make some noise, we've signed a record deal"! They were *****. Personally if I can get the music and they do some tours if I want to see them I don't care "how far" a band gets - I'd rather like stuff other people haven't heard of anyway. No doubt Foo Fighters got picked up earlier than they might otherwise have done but they could only go so far on the Nirvana thing and I think they left that behind long ago. I know people who like them who don't even know that Dave Grohl was in Nirvana - ar lass for one, we were watching MTV2 and Nirvana were on and she said, in all seriousness "That drummer looks like the guy out of Foo Fighters"!
RE: On MTV2 last night ... Little Angels? Now they were a total bag of *****. Saw them in Bradford (one of my mates' bands must have been supporting or something - no way would I have gone otherwise). I nearly ended up battering one of them. Can't remember why. Possibly 'cos of their music.
RE: On MTV2 last night ... You sure it wasn't at Leeds Irish Centre with FKM supporting? Knew Nidge out of FKM and got to know the others. LA were just so arrogant and obnoxious that night cause of the record deal - they were that good that they deliberated f*cked up FKM's sound and wouldn't let them use the dressing room so they had to get changed in the bogs!
Funny story A friend of mine is a teacher and she was speaking to a few kids at school about what music they liked. Some angst ridden oik said he liked Nirvana and was gonna ask his mum to get him tickets to see them live for his combined birthday/christmas present. Not the foggiest idea. (NOOO)
Good support band? Fact they sold out the tour in no time would suggest they are more than a support band
