http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otwGjlNonQw The link above is to the rant from Grimsby manager Rob Scott after a 2-1 loss to Darlington at home. Some fans had been getting on the teams back and he ended up confronting them. Now, this could be seen as a PR disaster or it could end up laying the ghost to rest and allow the fans to see his passion. If you look at the two top rated comments below I think it sums up the divide in opinions on this board to an extent (it may also give an indication of the proportion of people who support each idea). I also think that this is happening up and down the country, not just at Oakwell and Blundell Park. I'm not saying either side is right as both are valid points, but I thought it was an interesting discussion point.
I think you're right. It seems common place this season. Was amazed to hear Millwall fans booing at the end of the game on Saturday. They had a decent go, and in all fairness, they probably had the same amount of efforts and possession as they did when we played them last season. Just last season one shot took a deflection and the tap in from a few yards out was converted. And that turned a 2-0 home win to a 0-0 draw which they then boo. Did i hear one or two boo's from Man U fans.... i hear they were gutted to conceded 2 at home to such a poor side as Arsenal this season! And good effort Rob Scott
I think it is a malaise that is infecting the entire game and it is not new. I thimk there is a direct correlation between rising ticket prices at all levels and the lack of patience in the stands.
I think you are probably right, I'm not sure what can be done though. The power is with the players, and the bubble will need to burst before that changes. When players start being paid fair wages again, maybe the average fan won't be so disenfranchised.
You're spot on JDB. The rate of player wage inflation is ridiculous. People like **** Barton earning £60k a WEEK. In other words a BASIC salary of £3.12m, thats enough to make many in the RBS board room blush! At what point is reality going to bite?
When a club goes under. That club should have been Pompey but here they are spending £1.5 million on one players after paying less than half of that amount paying off their CVA
I thought that was going to be the case too. But while the current laws exist regarding the football creditors rule and the ability to phoenix an insolvent club with the lenient penalty of a 10 point deduction, whats to stop Portsmouth happening time and again?
