At work a local guy brings in a "Trust Box" full of biccies, choccies, crisps and the like. We buy, he collects money and replaces the items. In the box is a packet of two custard cream-type biscuits. They are made in the United Arab Emirates, and distributed via some company in Holland, then presumably sent to wherever in UK and Europe. FFS..... I mean, FFS !!!!!!! Why the fck do we now have to import fckin custard creams half way round the world? Anybody heard of Peek Freans? And if anybody suggests that the Arabs can make fckin custard creams CHEAPER than our own factories then I think it's about time to pack EVERYTHING in............. FFS........ FFS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How about one I heard on the radio It was a farmer that produced carrots, I think, in Wales - he supplied a particular supermarket chain but only a few supermarkets in that area. However - the supermarket have a central washing and packing plant in East Anglia, so the produce has to be shipped there to be washed and packed and then sent to the stores that are within a 50 mile radius of his farm! So next time you are in the supermarket and see the produce is from a Yorkshire farm, don't assume it's not travelled too far!
