Barnsley seem to be as crap as they are in real life. Any advice on formations, playing styles and players to sign?

You need TK playing just behind the strikers so he can pick out those pinpoint passes.

I'm terrible at FM, usually look to download formations and tactics

A bit like Flicker, I just work on advice, spend as much as I can and hope for the best

It's hardly changed in years. I think the last 5 or 6 versions have basically been updates. I got back into it last year after a few seasons off, and it wasn't much different.

£15 isn't too bad for a few weeks of entertainment.

I'm still on FM2013, I don't buy them every year as they rarely add owt to make it worth it.

I got Tarn promoted via the playoffs in my first season, got bored and started a new game. I'm now Stockport County manager in the Conference North with Liam Dickinson and Phil Jevons up front. Carl Regan at right wing back, Leigh Bromby centre half and captain. Rodger Wylde is the physio.

5-3-2 with wingbacks. Send the loanees back. Set your keeper to distribute to defenders, wingbacks to CWB role, midfield to run with the ball less, and your strikers to move into wide areas. Choose players in their optimum positions and assign roles depending on who is picked in the starting eleven.

    My team are:
    Steele
    Wiseman (RWB)
    Cranie (RCB)
    Hassell (CB, X)
    Nyatanga (LCB)
    Noble-Lazarus (LWB)
    Cwyka (RMC, AP)
    Mellis (MC, DLP)
    Perkins (LMC, BWM)
    Rose (RCF, P)
    O'Grady (LCF, CF)

Swap Danny Rose with Michelé Marconi (who I signed from Venezia for £50,000) and that's the exact regular starting lineup and formation that I used when reaching Wembley and beating Middlesbrough 1-0 in the playoff final.
I had Paddy in instead of Perkins until he broke his ankle 'slipping over a training cone', rendering him injured for 6 months. I **** you not.

I've just finished 10th in my 1st season, Pedersen finished league leading goalscorer with 25 goals and JOB ended up player of the season!
I was struggling so ended up downloading a tactic from the downloads area on steam.

In my first game i Started with a 4-1-2-2-1 and done well till xmas then dropped like a stone and got relegated, i've now started again and i'm 11 games in and 5th in league playing a 5-3-2 with wing backs,
i play RNL as left wing back and bought Victor Fernandez as cover for him play either Hassel or Wiseman as RWB both playing well, a mixture of Mvoto, Ramage, Cranie and Manuel Rueda who i got on a free at CB, my 3 central midfielders i play one as a BWM, BBM and an AP
Cywka McCourt or Mellis play well as AP also signed Keith Fahey for BBM, up front i play an AF and a DLF i was playing COG and Pedersen but Pedersen is out long term so put in Dagnall who is scoring loads. also looking at maybe signing Ebanks Blake on a free hope this helps

Thanks for the advice. A few minor changes and I'm now a playoff contender. Won 3-0 away at Leeds, and 4-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

Keith Fahey was an inspired signing. Maybe we should go after him in real life!?

£20 seems the best price this week. Has been £17 on Amazon, £15 on Steam, and was £14 in Game a couple of weeks ago.

I got mine at HMV for £18, but I think that was because the store was closing down.
