Kick off was 3:15 on Saturdays.

Wooden rattles and airhorns were allowed (unless you were stood in front of them).

The Oakwell Ales logos used to reappear on the Brewery Stand roof after a few weeks no matter how many times they painted them out. Looked good either side of the John Smiths lettering.
And you could walk all the way around the ground during the match or watch the cricket from the spion kop.

    Another thing

At that time, when talking about the manager, I called him MISTER Steele, not Johnny Steele. It would seem to be highly disrespectful for me to call him by his first name.

You didn't have to worry about tickets (except on rare occasions) you just turned up and paid on the gate, home or away.
