My brother was the mascot for the first match of the prem season. I don't remember much about the actual match, I must have been 7 at the time, but I remember the atmosphere and stuff

Apart from that the earliest other match that sticks in my head is away at S****horpe with Sasa Ilic in the net, god that was a bad day!!

    Barnsley 0 Southport 0 1966-67 Season

Never been a big football fan until the World Cup in 1966. Was hooked after that, and took in my first game at Oakwell that autumn.

Barnsley were having a real bad time. I think they had 3 points, the only victory being a 2-1 win over Luton.

Only thing I can remember is a Southport player heading off the line to prevent a goal.

Things turned around with the arrival of Barry Thomas, and Johnnie Evans.

Also remember at the end of the season playing Blunts in the County Cup Final at Oakwell. They were a Division 1 outfit at the time, and turned out quite a decent side (Jones, Birchenall, Hodgkinson, Badger etc). We played like lions and drew 1-1. The announcer said the match was a draw and each side would share the trophy. The crowd wouldn't leave, and chanted for extra time. Eventually they turned the floodlights off and we got the message!:D

My dad's had a season ticket at Barnsley since 1966. I cant really remember my first match, who it was against or the score line or anything, i think i was really young. All i remember were the lights, the atmosphere and the Ponty End singing. I absolutely loved it. My dad's mate used to lend me his season ticket when he couldn't make the odd game but in 2004 i got my own season ticket in the Ponty end untill i left for uni in 2009.

In fact now i come to think of it the first match i really remember was the play-off final against Ipswich in the 1999/2000 season. Even though we lost it was an absolutely amazing day for me, just seeing all the fans in such an iconic stadium was great.

My first away match was against Stockport where we drew 2-2, in 2005. The main thing i remember were the holes in the roof of the stand that we were in and pigeons flying in and out! That was also the match where Stockpot got a penalty in the 90th minute that had to be taken 3 times! And im sure Colgan saved the first two......

Port Vale (I think) at home

sometime in the 60's. Can't remember anything much about the game, but it must have made an impression on me. I was at junior school and on monday mornings you used to do something about what you did over the weekend and I remember drawing some football players in red shirts and white shorts.

I think it was Port Vale because I thought at the time what a strange name it was, although time may have merged several memories into one......
