Leyland Tiger Cub. First bus I ever worked on when I joined YTC in 1968.
Took an engine out with Len Brooksbanks and Brian Howard, both of e'm were big Reds fans and there were a lot of us at Sheffield Road depot.

I think the Tiger Cub could manage 40mph darn hill wi wind behind it. I think it had a crash gearbox on it. No synchromesh.

I also remember having pie and peas in Oldfield's Van when mi Mam and Dad brought me into Tarn, which was near the Wiretreliss and the Market Inn. Did a bit of courting with a lovely lass from Ward Green behind the Market Inn.

    Oh the sweet memories!

That film is from a video called Bygone Barnsley it will be on sale in a few places in town probably Smith's the guy upstairs in the market being 2 There's 2 parts to it 1 you've just seen which was a publicity film released by the council and the other a collection of old 35mm films sent in by members of the public and narrated by the late Tony Capstick.
For you ex-Tracky types I worrk for Stagecoach or I did until I was spotted by a manager driving with an ear-piece inand for that horrendous crime I was summoned to the office a couple of days later and sacked on the spot for gross misconduct.

look at his other videos, the save our mines song is an absolute classic . The lass singing looks like she's dressed for a game of american football with those shoulder-pads.
