He hasn't shown any remorse. He hasn't apologised, Children would be unsafe, I would worry about the safety of my wife/daughter, It's bad for football, It's an insult to all women, etc etc. What a load of cr** from those guardians of morals on this site who sit in judgement on an issue which has very little to do with them. The guy isn't coming to Barnsley - where he ends up is nothing to do with you.
Ian Huntley isn't going to come and chop me up in the bath. I'm too old and male for the likes of him. Why should I care where he is and what he's doing?
I think that how society treats the act of rape and those convicted of it is one of those things that has quite a lot to do with all of us.
I totally agree. Society deals with those who break the law. My post questioned whether one person has the right to be judgemental of another individual when that individual has nothing to do with them. We follow a football team - a convicted rapist may sign for another football team - why should that be any of our business?? (look forward to having a good answer to that question!)
The law did the judging. We are giving opinions on a person proved to be a rapist and shouldn't be in a position where people can make the mistake thinking that his actions were just a blip in his career and carry on as normal therefore morally legitimising it
Society doesn't deal with rapists. The judiciary does. What you're trying to argue (badly) is that society shouldn't deal with them.
Because I'm not a NIMBY! Look it up Just because Chedwyn isn't signing for BFC doesn't affect the feelings for some. If that's so hard to understand then I'm wasting my time. I could go on but I won't. Just coz its not directly effecting BFC doesn't make it right. Open ur curtains, there's a world beyond Oakwell.
Everyone has the right to discuss any subject they like on the BBS. In fact, it's the main strength of this board. We are all connected by our love for Barnsley Football Club, which is probably why we signed up on here. We share our feelings and opinions on all aspects of the club, debates and arguments arise. Sometimes extremely passionately. But we're also allowed do the same with whichever particular topic takes our fancy (eg. social issues, politics, religion, other sports), provided it does not breach the rules of the forum. It is not up to any one poster unilaterally to dictate to all the others what can, or can't, be discussed & debated, or pass on personal opinions.
