    Southend fan here, in peace.

Just so you are aware, there has been some engineering works going on between Billericay and Southend Victoria station. This would cut off access to Prittlewell station, the closest station to the ground.

As far as I am aware, these works have now finished and you should be able to make the trip with ease. If I am wrong, the trains will terminate at Billericay and you'll need to get the replacement bus to Southend.

Alternatively, if you get the train right through to Southend Victoria, this provides easier access to the town centre, should you need or want to grab a bite to eat.

Parking: if you aren't travelling by train, it is mainly street parking near the ground, although you are able to park in "The Victoria" shopping centre car park (which is located near Southend Victoria train station). Southend High School for Boys also provides parking.

Lunch: It is roughly a 15 minute walk from the ground to the high street (town centre), if you wanted to go to the seafront or the high street itself. There are two McDonalds, a KFC & a Burger King in the high street. However, there is a fish & chip shop right near the ground, opposite the estate agents (near the church entrance).

Drinking: There are two pubs close to the ground, (both are under 5 minutes walk away from the ground). These are The Blue Boar & The Spread Eagle. The Blue Boar is for away fans only on match day, so this pub will be your base up until kick-off. The Spread Eagle is for home fans only on match days.

If you wish to know anything else, I'm more than happy to help.

Safe trip to all who are coming down here for the game.

I went to the Blue Boar when we played there in April 2007. They had no idea what a pint of smooth was.

Thanks for this, I'll point this out to my brother who's making the trip down.

Think I went in the Blue Boar when I went down in 2007. Decent enough little boozer. Think we took a few more fans down that time though than we're gonna this time. Was a red hot day at the end of the season, with both teams needing a win at the wrong end of the table. Cracking game which we won 3-1. Still my favourite away game.

I remember the blue boar from 2007, great day out that was.

The big question though is will it be pay on the gate?

I also remember that day, they had some lap dancers giving it flyers, one sort of put one in my hand, clocked my tarn shirt and snatched it off me.

Was that the boozer that we couldn't get in after what felt like a ten mile walk in 100° heat?

    Oh OK

This one I'm thinking about was just off sea front with strippers on and coppers came in as full of red fans.

There was a couple of topless Barnsley fans in the beer garden, unfortunately they were blokes.

Thank you and what a lovely post. A real illustration of what football fandom is about.
