did you hear Shaun O`Driscoll on Dee Dah? Saying it does not matter how much money you have or how much the players earn - it matters what they do on th epitch. Very good point - BFC take note...
The lack of finance argument doesn't stand up to scrutiny anyway. Dungcaster have spent far less than us, as have Blackpool. I shouldn't imagine that Plymouth can match our outlay either (although I haven't checked.) Relative to several teams in this division, and in comparison to what a Barnsley manager can expect, Davey's had a pretty generous budget. I also wonder how much scrutiny the manager's been placed under after wasting oodles on players whom were quickly bombed out - Mostto, Christensen, Rajczi, Ferenczi. Forest spunked £2.7million on a single player and have only accrued as many points as Barnsley, having played a game more, so it just goes to show that money isn't everything. The most important person at a football club, by a distance, is the manager. If he's good then you don't have to spend astronomical amounts because he'll cause the team to punch above its weight. If he's ***** then he'll take a competent squad and have it outside the relegation zone on goal difference with two of the top four left to play.
