I haven’t been able to get to any games this season as I really haven’t been fit enough, but I hear what dad says and read on here and match reports in the press etc. I’m really pleased that, apart from today, we managed to find the passion and flair that we had missed since the start of the season and fought to stay up. We did better than was said at the beginning of the season – we finished 5th from bottom not 4th! I only watched some of the match on tv today but it was obvious that the team, knowing that we were safe, were thinking about their summer holidays and not finishing their day at work. We had a weakened squad available today due to injuries etc., but being safe we could afford to play this way and give some of the squad players a chance to see what they were made of. We should have got stuck in, I still think we would have lost, but by maybe 2 or 3 goals not 7, as we were playing against a strong side who needed to win to be sure of a play-off place. Yes we are safe and are playing Championship league football next season but we should all be upset and a little humiliated by today’s performance. The players must realise that they have let themselves, their Club and their fans down. I would imagine that only a few of those who played today will be in the starting team in August. The players who are out of contract this summer have not helped themselves today with the performance in front of a tv audience and probably Scouts from other clubs. The hard work for BFC and its Management starts now, we have to start looking forward and build a team that can take us upwards. Just managing to avoid relegation is not an option. It will be an interesting time between now and kick off in August, let’s just hope the news is “We have signed….” and not all “We were after….” Onwards and upwards.
good post baby and quite fair. We do need to make alot of changes, but over this season we should be pleased
