Does anyone have any they're particularly looking forward to?
I'm enjoying the recent albums from the Mystery Jets and David Bowie, and I'll check out the new Savages album (out this Friday). The 2 I'm really keen to hear this year though are the debut album from Meilyr Jones (former frontman of Race Horses / Radio Luxembourg), and the 2nd album from Teleman.

New blink-182 album due in the summer. First without DeLonge, first with Skiba. Exciting.

Not really. savages album is good though. I'm not feeling the love for much new music at the minute.

Great thread. Too bad that I'm not particularly looking forward to any new albums this year though...

I'm secretly hoping that there'll be a new Super Furry Animals album. It's been pretty quiet on that front lately so I hope that it means that they're too busy recording something new. :)

Then there's the "Heaven Adores You" soundtrack album by Elliott Smith of course. That guy and David Bowie were (it breaks my heart that I now have to use the past tense in here) my favourite two solo artists of all time. Apparently there should be some previously unreleased music on it, but I'll still be a bit surprised if there's anything that I haven't already heard before.

And now that you mention it, I'm also looking forward to that Meilyr Jones album. This is the first time I've even heard about it though, as I have no idea where or how to "follow" him these days. Let me know when it's coming out - if it's even half as good as "Goodbye Falkenburg" was, then it's a definite purchase for me!

If no more parties in LA is anything to go by "SWISH" is going to be absolutely incredible and runaway album of the year.

I have a feeling Bloc Party's album will be total toss and Blood Orange will kill it again.

I'm also looking forward to buying Blackstar on vinyl, but it seems to be sold out in a lot of places right now...

Remind me who/what was Teleman again...? I remember you recommending it/him/them to me, but I'm not sure if I ever actually checked it out.

Aaand please make sure that you remind me about the Meilyr Jones album when it's released! :D

Teleman was formed from the ashes of Pete and the Pirates when they split up a few years ago. Same singer (Thomas Sanders) and a similar sound, albeit not as poppy, and I suppose a generally more mature sound. They have one album out already (Breakfast). Here is a good song from it:

Meilyr's album should be great. He played some new songs on 6 Music a couple of weeks ago. Here is his recent single:

    Album out in March!

I've had a mild obsession with Dev since I saw Test Icicles support Klaxons way back when, then loved Lightspeed Champion saw him live a good 7-8 times and now Blood Orange is just incredible.

Yep, I've kept an interest in what the former Test Icicle lads have been up to. I saw them play the small room at the Leadmill in about 2006. Phenomenal gig! One of the highlights was them playing Circle Square Triangle over the wrong backing track. They seemed to realise towards the end but ploughed on. Then the correct backing track came on so they just played the song again. Shambolic but brilliant!
