Or Three Five Fu'cking Two, but one of the two systems need to be deployed sooner rather then later, because the Christmas pudding just isn't working, and our six pence needs to but put back in the middle
Fair point. All very well saying 4-4-2 but with Treacy on one wing, an out of form Hourihane on the other (or Jennings) our midfield would be even more exposed than it is already. The lack of width was a problem again last night, full backs have no options other than playing aimless balls in the channels. But you've got to work with what you have. I'd be much happier with the formation as it was if we have two of the key constituent parts, namely a ball winning midfielder and a target man like I've been screaming for all season. But I guess that's easier said than done.
Exactly. I wasn't happy last night, an awful performance and the worst we've had all season IMHO. However, it has to be taken with a bit of context. Our squad is unbelievably light - that's what happens we you lose 20 players & only start rebuilding in July - and I don't see any other options than what we saw last night that are obviously so much better.
No. That is a combination of being unable to do business until August & the fact the two 'Championship quality' lads we've signed haven't looked the part.
We've got two wingers on the books. Dale Jennings, who we signed from Bayern Munich and Keith Treacy who last season made 31 appearances for a side promoted to the Premier League. There was talk of Dale Jennings tearing this division a new arsehole, but he's looked out of condition at best and now he's injured. Treacy simply hasn't done it, but with a pedigree like he's got, who thought it would be him letting the side down? Wilson brought in another player on loan who can play on the wing. He went off on international duty and came back injured. What would you like the manager to have done?
Id say that wilson knew jennings was seriously unfit and also knew the same about treacy so signing only williams wasnt enough. Williams' injury isnt the reason we arent playing with two proper wingers because even when he was fit he played him in the middle. In my opinion not playing with wingers is a concious decision of wilsons
Which takes us back to the fact that wilson knew jennings and treacy were unfit. Though it still doesnt explain playing the only fit winger in tbe middle
