Four men in Reds sights BARNSLEY By Simon Meeks BARNSLEY were aiming to sign transfer-listed striker Leon Knight before today's deadline for loan deals. Four new players could be on the books by close of play with West Ham teenager left winger Kyel Reid and midfield enforcer Ronnie Wallwork two of the others. Barnsley also want an experienced centre half. Knight has fallen out of favour with Swansea City with manager Kenny Jackett accusing the 24-year-old of not working hard enough. Knight responded by saying: "Kenny says I didn't work hard enough and that I moan too much. We're all entitled to our opinions, but I'd say that my goal-scoring record says different. I moan because I'm a winner and it means so much to me. "There have been all sorts of rumours in the media about fights in the dressing-room, but I'm too old for all that." He has not played since October 6. He joined Swansea in January for £125,000 and hit a very respectable 15 goals from 28 League One appearances. The well travelled striker who began his career as a trainee at Chelsea had spells at QPR, Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday and Brighton. Reid, who turns 19 next month, played once in the Premiership in May 2006 against West Brom and was a sub at Chesterfield as the Hammers suffered a 2-1 League Cup upset. He is an England Youth international. Knight, Reid and Wallwork could all make debuts in Saturday's home game against Ipswich Town. Wallwork is 29 but has fallen out of favour at West Brom since Tony Mowbray took over as manager at the Hawthorns. He will be on loan at Oakwell until January 1 and will not be allowed to play against West Brom on December 10. Barnsley caretaker-manager Simon Davey took first team training for the first time today. Rick Holden, former manager Andy Ritchie's No 2, officially left the club yesterday. Academy manager Davey picked his first senior team yesterday. He oversaw the Reserves' 1-0 defeat by West Brom at Oakwell. Rob Elvins scored the winner just before half-time. Barnsley Reserves: Letheren, Harban, Potter, Tonge, Meynall, Kell (Loukes 77 mins), McGrory (Frost 66), Wroe, Jarman, Coulson, McParland (Beevor 66). Unused subs: Waggett, Smith.
