first off. This is my first post on the site. Been a guest for about a year reading all you guys commenting. Really respect what a lot of you guys say because you manage to get to all the games and so know better than the rest about who's playing well/badly. Only managed to get to 3 games this year because I live in Hertfordshire. But that doesn't mean I'm less of a fan in my opinion. Just unfortunate to live so far away.

Secondly one of my work mates is an Arsenal fan and I mentioned that there had been some idle chat elsewhere about Barnsley signing Fran Merida. To my surprise he said he'd already heard the rumour. Not too sure about this guy but was told to do a search on You Tube and the boy has some amazing skills!! Has anyone else heard this or is it another chinese whisper type rumour. He's seriously good and Wenger may want him to get some experience and toughen up. Worked for Beckham at Preston.

Happy Christmas to you all too

Welcome to the board. Cannot for the life of me understand why you would respect what anyone on here says as its usually a load of unadulterated old piss-flaps but each to their own. :)

    Welcome

And happy Xmas to you too.

Agree with TM about the respect bit. And hardly any of us get to games; we all sit around at 3pm on a Saturday and hear the commentary by proxy from the one person who's daft enough to subscribe to waterworld, sorry, BarnsleyWorld. :D

Would be good about Merida. They make good bikes so he'll be solid and reliable.

And lets face it, we could do with a loanee to freshen the place up a bit.

"A creative, highly technical central or left-sided midfielder, Fran made a huge impact following his arrival at Arsenal in the summer of 2006."

Sounds like somebody we've just signed, besides the last bit of course.

RE: Hope We Don't Want Him

Fabregas was 17 when he broke into the Arsenal team. I'd have had him on loan if we could. I think he is a central midfielder. could be useful to have someone like him on the bench for when Howard/De Silva don't do it. ie Wednesday and united.

He sounds like the same type of player to Diego Leon, not that I've seen either of 'em.

If he's central midfield, we will need him even less than if he were a winger. Howard, De Silva, Leon, Togwell, Johnson etc is enough I feel for two places. Unless someone is on their bike when the window opens (chinny) (chinny) (chinny)

Stevenage. The armpit of England. From what SD said I thought Leon may play wide left. He mentioned him having bag of pace. something that Devaney def doesn't have enough of.

Hopefully the new year will bring some more optomistic posts!!

But if we have the oppotunity to sign someone with more class than Togwell or Johnson then surely that's a good thing. Everyone is going on about signing another forward when we have 5 already for 2 positions. I think a midfield of Leon, Howard, Anderson, JCR with a bench of Merida and Devaney gives us options. No Guarantee we'll get Anderson back or this Merida. Has anyone else heard he's been on trial? Anyone get to training and seen some new faces??

I think we have a great chance of getting De Silva full time. He's not highly thought of by management or the fans and is at a age he needs regular football at (which we give him). We have enough loan signings. Too many cooks spoil the broth as they say.

    He's **** hot....

Seen him play a few times.

My cousin lives in London and is an Arsenal fan, and i've watched him play a few reserve games. Technically he's fantastic, but might get bullied a bit in our league.

    IMO.
