The Supporters Trust are delighted to announce that we have secured 20 memberships that are available on a match by match basis for our members. These memberships are available on a first come first served basis to our members, so that they can experience the facilities and entertainment on offer. The venue is supplied by Acorn Brewery, with draught bitter available for just £2.00 a pint, with a range of bottled beers also available. Warm drinks are available from just 50p and locally sourced pie and peas are proving a big hit. To get your hands on one of these superb memberships, just call at Preedy's reception and meet one of the Trust Board members, show your trust membership card, and we will give you a pass for Preedy's for the game. If you like Preedy's then we can offer you a discount on the current yearly membership rates for Preedy's (currently £30 per year). Again ask a Trust Board member for details.
Pity we don't have similar facilities to Notts County. Now that was an impressive club house. In fact it'd be somewhere you'd even go to on non match days. Got to be better than the 12 deep at the bar, 20mins to be served shambles at Walkabout.
Do you think we'd get the custom to support it though if we had some kind of club house? Would people venture to Oakwell at other times of the week to use it? I have my doubts. I know a few clubs have closed there social clubs for this reason.
I don't Oakwell is too far out of the way. Even pubs in popular areas are closing at an alarming rate. To open a large venture on the Oakwell site in the current economic climate would be financial suicide. Whatever we have it's got to survive on match day takings only.

In Preedy's? Yes there are a load of 40/50 inch plasmas and one huge projector screen and the live game is shown before hand. It's a very good venue for watching the live game IMHO.
Hmmm . . . . might be worth a look if I can get to games more regularly. Think you might get a few more in if you did away with membership completely though . . .
I think they need a membership to keep numbers under control on match days, however it could be free or a nominal fee membership.
Normal pubs don't have memberships, they just keep the numbers down by having a couple of bouncers on the door and stopping people going in when its full. They must have bouncers on the door to stop people getting in without membership so that wouldn't cost extra money. I think more people would go in if there wasn't a membership, also if people really wanted to get in they mght turn up early before its full . . . .spending more money!!
The difference being that this is at the stadium, so people turn up at 2pm wanting a pint, "sorry mate we're full" then you're pretty stuffed....turn up at a pub in town for a pre-match pint, if they are full there's somewhere else nearby.
True but I suppose its tough! Other clubs do it. You don't need membership in Shearers bar at Newcastle and they get 50,000+. Away fans go in there, went in myself last time. You could alays get a drink in the ground if you're in the East Stand. . . .
