Just moved to new house and found out that Freeview reception is dodgy at best. However the house has a satellite dish already installed and cabled through to a termination box in TV room. I am looking at a Freesat option so advice appreciated on the following:
1) Is this the type of box+card I need ? http://www.simplydigital.co.uk/acatalog/Sky_Digital_Receivers.html?gclid=CP2D6bzilIICFSsEGgodFU3ZDw
2) With the above am I good to go? I don't have to subscribe to anything do i?
3) what is the cable spec I need to take me from the sky box which has a screw thread termination, to the Pace type box? is it an F-connector?
Kids are resigned to 4 terrestrial channels over christmas I'm afraid but the promise of something in the new year might soften the blow so big cheers in advance from anyone who can help.
Ta,
AIRy.

I have no doubt there are people better qualified on here than me to answer your questions definitively (particularly with respect to cabling), but one thing I'd say is steer clear of Pace boxes. They're a bitch to tune manually if your dish isn't already aligned (I spent hours yesterday doing one, albeit down here in France). Panasonic are a much better bet and you can get them, and other makes, dirt cheap off E-bay as many people are upgrading to Sky+. Bear in mind if you want Sky+ you'll need a dual LNB at the satellite dish end of the cable. I'm only assuming that Sky+ works with non-subscription channels - I've never tried it myself. As far as subscription goes, no you don't need to subscribe to get free to air stuff but you will need even an expired Sky card to get some freeview services, such as channel 5. Even then, you won't get some of the freeview channels via a non-subscription Sky service, for example E4.
Oh, and a handy site . . . . . . in case you have to do any fiddling about with the dish, etc. yourself: http://www.satelliteforcaravans.co.uk/

RE: Oh, and a handy site . . . Stop shouting. I suppose without Satellite they wouldn't have been able to watch their **** team against Arsenal the other night. Oh.
