Anyone on here fix french door locks? I tried saving a bit of money purchasing some “ex display” French doors of Facebook market place from Sheffield. As I’m putting them in side of my garage.

they came with no keys. I messaged and they said they don’t have any keys but sent me some new euro cylinder locks with keys.
Removed the old cylinders and sounded like bits dropped down. Keys won’t turn in new locks when fitted.

sent numerous messages and said they would get fitter to call me to help but won’t hold my breath. Basically said they were checked and working before delivery. I pointed out they couldn’t have checked if they locked and unlocked if had no keys.

Euro cylinders are brand new and fine in hand but won’t turn when located in door so must be door mechanism.

think I’ve been ripped off. Bit annoyed as never normally buy owt second hand.

Sounds like you have the cylinder in wrong way, so the lever won’t turn as not in right place

You say they lock and unlock fine not in the door? Does the door lock work in the door when open? You've not got anything stuck in the doors have you like a small stone (or a bit from the old lock as you heard things dropping)?

I mean the cylinders spin freely when in my hand not in door so it’s not them. I think it’s the mechanism in the door that’s faulty.

When you put them in the door does the door 'lock' when open? Or do they not work at all when in the door in either open or closed position.

After a bit of playing about and a gallon of wd40 The right one now locks and unlocks with the door open and closed

the left one with the centre post I know is fecked because when I removed the cylinder bits dropped out. Springs and alsorts lol. It would be the awkward one :). I’ll sort it tomorrow probably change the whole mechanism. Bit annoyed as I was supposed to be cutting hole in wall tomorrow and fitting them .

Like JD says do they work when the door is open?
and do the shootbolts engage when you lift the handle? If the bolts aren't engaging properly when the doors are closed the key won't work, it might be a case of using an Allen key on the hinges to align the doors correctly.

Its a bit awkward as the doors arnt actually secured in yet. They are in my garage moving about every time I try them. I’ve got the main door working, it’s still a bit clunky even with door open.
