Whether you’re English, French, Guatemalan or from the moon. If you boo the other teams anthem you are an absolute cretin.

Yep, they are a disgrace, and it's the England fans to blame of course.

    Les marsaillarseholes.

It's far from the worst things that football fans have done, but at the same time it's being dickheads for the sake of being dickheads

You can’t get sentenced to death just for being an absolute cretin. Sadly.

I found it interesting on this site a few days back with the vitriol for our national anthem. The french one is basically about doing bloody murder on your enemies in pursuit of imperial aspirations. So the French are people in glass houses throwing bricks. Question is, would those decrying our national anthem's monarchist theme "respect" the french one or show disapproval?

I bet most of them don’t have a clue what it’s about, so people may just be respecting the French in general rather than what the anthem’s all about. Sounds, like ours, another country ought to update it’s National anthem.

I don't like our national anthem. I don't care about the French one because I'm not French.

As I alluded to the other day, I don't listen to any national anthem if I can avoid it. I don't show disapproval other than muting them on the telly, or not singing ours should it be sung at an event I'm attending, in which case I try not to draw attention to the fact out of both fear of and respect of other people. On the monarchy issue, clearly my views are my own and I understand that I'm in a minority, the point I was trying to make was just that it's a shame that our national anthem seems to me to conflate being British with religion and a high regard for the monarch, so singing it would make me a hypocrite on both those fronts.

I think all anthems are pointless and should be scrapped at sport events. I don’t actively “show disapproval” at our anthem (or any other) but I won’t sing it.

actively booing any anthem is a completely different thing, and I wouldn’t do it, because I’m not a moron.

Read Burgundy’s post. I feel the same as him but he articulates it better than I ever could.

Don't you have people to do that for you (the hoovering and the booing)?

Respect, obviously. Is this really a question? When people boo a national anthem, they are not critiquing its lyrics. They're just being arschlöcher.

Had to let both the housekeepers and booers go…apparently they wanted paying for all the extra hours they worked.

Whilst I wouldn’t do it, is booing a National Anthem and worse than booing Wendy singing WAWAW?
