To the nearest 1000 'residents' - Can anyone tell me the number of people held in HM Prisons as at close of business last Friday ?
Not that many It's actually 76,860 Which is down about 4k from the same time in the previous year. Crap question wasn't it
I did a real guess, then researched it but realised as soon as i hit submit, that It was probably too high. I was then going to amend it to about 55000 but couldn't be arsed. Which is still wrong.
RE: Not that many being serious for a moment, the afro-carib pop is masseeevly over represented in UK prisons.
Not nearly enough You can't tell me that only about 10,000 more than what Old trafford holds deserve to be in prison out of a population of nearly 60 million.
I bet every one of us could name at least a dozen people that ought to be in there with them.
It's outrageous.

RE: Not nearly enough I don't know their names, but I could point out a few who I'd like disappeared.
RE: Not that many Yeah I've read similar stuff myself. It seems to me that it's not rocket science to figure out why, but government after government has failed to do anything about it, instead they get out the big stick blame people and turn whole sections of society into scapegoats for their own lack of progressive policies to sovle the problem. *******, the lot of them.
