He's a gifted player, when he wants to be. If he continues to play like he did in the latter end of the season for us, then you have an extremely talented player on your team. However, I hope for your sake that he doesn't revert to his earlier part of the season where he was bone idle and expected the ball to land at his feet without breaking sweat.

    Whatever has been said.......

..... you can nearly always count on him to deliver when you need it most. He can really shine when the chips are down.

    Personally I rated him

When he first joined us on loan from Man Utd, he set off like a house on fire & looked far too good for League 1. I was very pleased when we signed him before the start of the next season on a years loan but, for some strange reason, Paul Hart didn't seem to want to play him. Hart got the push, Ritchie made the step up & played him & again, I thought he looked good & was wishing that we'd played him earlier in the season.

Ritchie then made his signing permanant, but he picked up an injury early on. Once fit, he hardly got a look in until near the end of the season when he weighed in with some important goals.

This last season, he broke his collar bone very early in pre-season. Again, once fit, he hardly got a look in until near the end of the season when he weighed in with some important goals.

So, my view is, if you can keep him fit & if your manager believes in him enough to give him an extended run plus if your other players can give him good enough service to maintain his interest, you'll have a good player. If he doesn't get an extended run or spends a large part of the game being expected to chase mishit long balls, he'll be very anonymous.

    Just my opinion.

He'll be forgotten about a few weeks into the season.

No doubt the guy's got talent, and he knows where the net is. If his fitness continues and he plays with the fight and commitment he did towards the end of the season then QPR have a decent player. End of day, he helped keep us up

Plus points - talented and has an instinct for goal
Minus points - doesn't put the effort in to harness that talent, if the ball isn't to his feet he'll just look at it, doesn't seem to understand the offside rule so on the occasion that he does try to move for the ball he's offside anyway.

    Don't take much notice

We're all a bit bitter about the way he's gone and how he dragged the whole issue out until now. Truth is you've got yourself someone who will notch for you when it really matters. He scored the goals that got us through the Play Offs and the goals in the run-in that kept us up last season. Of course everyone's now saying he's crap and we'll not miss him, but that's typical yorkshire bluster.

Plus points : Talented player and a great finisher.
But as my mate would say Big Idle lovely person. Puts the effort in when March comes around. If you are in with a shout of the playoffs or need a someone to pop the goals in to stave off relegation he's your man. Don't expect anything from him before then.
No I don't hate the kid. Just expected more from him than we got during the last 2 seasons.
Although he did score 2 goals on his debut for us. Perhaps that's where the expectation stemmed from.
Good Luck for next season pal providing you end up behind us!

    Don't hate him.

If he's had a better offer from you guys he's done right.

Good eye for goal, but doesn't know what a teammate looks like. Also covers about the same amount of yardage as a really lazy sloth, and spends more time injured than Ironside.

Watch him go when he's playing for a new contract, mind. World-beater for two or three matches.
