Confused.com / moneysavingexpert.com / comparethemarket.com ......... etc.

I have NEVER been bombarded with as many junk calls as I have this week since using the above sites (and others). I had one call from a "broker" literally seconds after pressing "submit" on comparethemarket ............ he wasn't even on the list of returned results and was very reluctant to tell me WHO he was calling from. 0845 6850048 have rung me about 30 times this week. They hang up when you answer, and the calls continue even after ringing them back to unsubscribe.

The above sites may seem to offer a helpful service, but please, beware the gotchas.

    Does for me shag.

If they ring, ask them where they are from and tell them you'll be forwarding their details to TPS.

no it doesn't but once TPS get's mentioned they usually apologise pretty quick, if they don't ask for a supervisor - then they hang up sharpish. doesn't help with companies you're a 'customer' of though

    Stops cold calling but...

...if you've left your details with a website then it's not deemed cold calling. TPS will only stop the tossers that try to market something you haven't remotely enquired about. This is why you'll still get junk mail from credit card companies you've already been rejected for and calls from companies affiliated with websites you've only used once.

I try that with the wife. Usually when she catches me on Redtube.

Best thing to do to avoid that is get a cheap PAYG mobile + sim and use that as your number for those web pages. Just turn it off wehn you want.

Same happened with me last year

i was looking for car insurance, went on confused.com and within minutes i'd had 5 or 6 companies promising me they could get me a better deal (which they couldn't). I've had 4 letters this month from Swinton, all exactly the same, telling me they can get me cheaper car insurace because they think that June is my renewal month.

As someone above said, don't use your real telephone number, wish i didn't :D
